Battlefield 3 Beta

FML. I have a 384. Got my key yesterday at 2PM. Started downloading. This morning at 60%. Power goes out. Power goes on. Download restarts. Now at 7%. Origin sucks.

LOL i thought i had the same rotten luck, i got my Key at 12pm yesterday and started downloading (was only getting 180kb/s from a 4meg line o_O wtf!) and got to 95% when there was a power outage due to Transmission error to a section of Durban ! WTF!!!!! after 2 hours the power goes on and BOOM!! download starts from 40 %!!!!

let's just say i hulked smashed my poor desk :S

otherwise here is my first impression,

Pro (the good stuff)
- Graphics are Ossum! and this is only the Beta o_O very impressed!!!
- Hit reg is much better than BC2 (thank Buddha!!!)
- sound is mind-blowing!! the echos in the corridors and random sounds is extremely good
- can run in window mode......wow, never thought i would be able to do that
- General gameplay is fun, kinda like COD,MoH & a bit of Battlefield postman had a little baby.......... and that baby had a non-related twin........something like that (this is kinda in a gray area, it's good, but weird at the same time)
- it's not as heavy as i thought i would have been, though TBH i haven't played around with the settings too much, that i will do tonight ;)
- Recoil is very nice, you actually have to tap instead of spamming, i likey :)


Con (the bad stuff)
- the server Browser on a browser........ wtf were they thinking! very laggy, hopefully this will get sorted
- I'm sorry but Origin is buggy as hell!!! i know it says in the program that this is an Origin Beta program, but bloddy hell!!!
- i get random connection issues when joining a game, exact error is "general error, please try again" ummmmm ok
- very random game crash, sometimes i can play for 5 mins and it crashes, then there are times when i can play like 3 rounds in a row and have no problem......then it crashes :(
- Squad system is facked, i can't seem to be able to choose my own squad :S this might be a PEBCAK error i dunno
- general movement is a bit stiffy or laggy
- Knifing is better than BC2, but still a bit iffy
- for some stupid dumbass reason you can only change Key Bindings, Video settings, etc (you know, normal stuff) when you are in a map, actually playing!! WTF, so you have to hide somewhere and hope no-one kills you while you adjust the settings, how dumb is that!! (another reason using a web browser to manage the game is STUPID!! though i can't see why they don't just let you do this when you are at the deployment screen ????!?!?!)


Conclusion

I'm impressed, this looks like it is going to be an epic game, i just hope DICE sort out some of the issues before actual release

**** REMEMBER, THIS IS A BETA!! IT WILL BE BUGGY, DEAL WITH IT****

P.S.
DICE have stated that they have already fixed things before this Beta even came out so the problemns i am moaning about here might even be fixed already. This is basically just a promotion to sort our BF3 addiction ;)

Ouch, dont say that. Telkom have very bad lines and a slow exchange where I stay.
 
So, anyone know of a local P2P or FTP where I can start the dl from in the mean time while waiting for my key/open beta? Given up on getting my key...

People are getting so angry and I must say it makes me laugh so hard. Origin is in beta and so is Battlefield so please complain on the EA forums cause they are not checking here. Post feedback and help them make the game better for us. People on 384 lines will be done before tomorrow so please people that got this game a bit early be greatfull and just think before commenting. Always the same thing people complain about beta games cause they think it will be bug free....lol


Check your email spam for the key

Wage has it on their FTP, search the forums for it, I'm not sure where I saw the link.
 
Remember Origin, or Horrigin, as I like to call it, is thankfully also still in Beta. Hopefully a lot of issues get resolved, as I'm sure Origin will emerge from its beta phase as soon as BF3 is on the shelves.

As soon as I get home, I'm going to make love to the beta, again.

Ouch, that's bad. At least with good old Stoom downloads just resume. It's probably something attributed to the beta, that and fail community stuff.

One thing I don't like about Battlelog is it seems to resemble Facebook to some degree. Status updates/awards are posted on your Battle Feed, where you can comment or "Hooah" the equivalent of a "poke". Overall it's very pwetty and works fairly well. Although there are the occasional hiccups where it takes ages to join a game. Otherwise, from a technical perspective, it looks good!

'Washed-out' does not spring to mine when one loads this game. If that's washed out, it's very good then.

Can't wait to have another game.
 
Ok can anyone help? I'm trying to join a game (got the game manager and everything) but everytime I try join is comes up with the error "You were disconnected from the login server". So annoyed just want to play the bloody game :mad:
 
Try Logging completely out of Battlelog and then Origin

Also S1X, "Washed" was the term I used, go play Crysis 2 on Max and you'll understand what I mean.

Kk I found the problem, so just here for reference if someone else gets the same problem.

For some reason when I restarted Origin after the PC was off, Origin decided that BF3 should now be downloaded to a new folder. For some, fucking odd reason. Anyway, so if you go to your HD -> Origin Games, there's a folder named "Battlefield 3 Open Beta". This is the original DL folder. Origin, when I restarted, decided to download all the files again to folder "Battlefield 3 Beta". So just pause the download, delete that folder, rename "Battlefield 3 Open Beta" to "Battlefield 3 Beta" and restart Origin. It should pick up from where it left.

Edit : See you solved the problem, good for you. ;)
I just copied the contents to the new folder.
