Graphics Card - Recommendation Please

Money money money. Money makes the world go round and round and round.
My 2c. Buy what you can afford.
You will be surprised at what the cheaper cards can do.
But don't expect the moon and the starts for R1500.

Like some guys said before, I have only had problems with ATI gfx cards and no problems what so ever with any of my Nvidia cards.
It's up to personal preference
I know the 6790 is a potent card for the price.
Can get it for R1299 ex vat and it beats my GTX460.

Then you have one seriously shitty GTX460
Maybe if you were running a 768mb card but the 1GB overclocked is a little monster.

GTX460 can be easily overclocked to around the same performance of a GTX470.

Oh and just to add to that the 6xxx cards from amd are brilliant but they can't really be overclocked. GTX460 can be clocked to around 30% more oomph!!

If it came down to a 550ti vs 6790, then the 6790 is the obvious choice.
if it came down to a GTX460 1GB vs a 6790 then the GTX is the obvious choice.

Here's a list of almost all the cards available across online shops in SA. At around page 24 you'll find some nice cards for sale.

Also I would try to get my hands on a 6790, those cards are really potent. And in crossfire they leave 550TI's in SLI far behind. And they come close to 6850 crossfire set up. Which gives them a lot of potential.

Thanks, that is quite a list :) , have had a quick look, will give it another look, later this evening

Glad I could help. I know it's a huge list but it's worth it. Gives you a chance to also do more research on a specific card that might catch your eye, for instance what I do is as soon as I see a card I like, I google it and look for detailed reviews and unboxings on it.

Nothing wrong with Inno 3D. I've used them a couple of times and never had problems with them before. I can understand your point, and it's worth it most of the time to buy the more expensive hardware kit. But Rebeltech and Wootware both swear by Inno 3D and they are both very respectable shops. Just my 2 cents.
