@Fridgevr I hope your download is sorted and you'll be able to play tonight.

We just want to kill some or hundreds of people with some friends online, is that too much to ask EA & DICE?

the AA gun also seems to be screwed up.shot a chopper right above me that was howering for 8 seconds before it got disabled.that 100%hits.

I read this on my fav site and maybe it works for you:

Get the patch from a buddy, it should be in an "updates" folder in his BF3 install folder. The patch is called "Xpack1". My buddy's "XPack1" folder was 2.9GB (Where the patch is supposed to be 3.9GB)
Copy this to the corresponding folder on your PC
Now open Origin, if it's already busy downloading the patch, stop it by clicking the "X" next to the status bar.
In Origin, open up "Settings" in the top right corner.
Under the "General" tab, tick "Keep installers after games have been installed"
Now the important part: Where it says "Select where you want to store your game installers", set this folder to the folder you copied the "Xpack1" into. Now close Origin to make sure its saving your settings.
You now need to restart Origin and maybe even BattleLog, I find it easiest to just restart your whole PC.
Once Origin starts back up, it will look like its doing something, counting up towards something like 15.4GB or even 20GB, just let it go.
Origin still downloaded another 133MB after this process on my PC, at least its not 3.9GB

Not impressed by the patch, but hey it gives us the DLC too.

Things I like:

Firstly, Back to Karkand!

The patch fixes the IRNV over-powered issue. They can only really be used a short range, which I think is fair enough to prevent any further camping that IRNV might contribute to. They have moved the chat box, it's no longer in your face, but moved, one can now view previous messages by simply opening it.

Portable suns have been toned down, although will still melt your retina if too close. The tower on Caspian now collapses, that provides many with hours of entertainment in the long run, although the fact that it's based on a timed event is annoying. They have fixed the TV missile in the chopper, although it appears it's more deadly than ever (Saw someone camping with a chopper, firing TV missiles into the enemy base:/)

Other than that, HUD colours look better.

Things I dislike:

They screwed the choppers aiming, rockets don't appear to line up with the crosshairs. Stability is still a problem. increased the jet cannons damage to all targets. Only method of downloading the patch is via Origin, no manual download option.

Sure there are a few more that I forgot to mention, but the above jumps to mind.

Re: helicopters

Plain and simple they've messed it up, really messed it up, i was chatting to the world number1 on battlelog and he too thinks the same, it seems in this patch the poor Heli's and Jets have been targeted :(

I was so excited about BF3, I even rented a server.

But after the 3rd f$%&^%$^$%g time the update failed I am just giving up. Up until now I have wasted just over 9Gb and lots of hours, all for nothing.

Anybody live in the Louis Trichardt/Polokwane area who can help me with the files?

Yeah, that doesn't work for me... Keep getting "The game installer cache directory is invalid. Please select a different directory".
Yay! My luck!

My curiosity was EATING @ ME!!, as usual, lol, so I copied my back-up folder and did a "Repair Install" now I only have a 133.4MB download left, THANK F#CK!!!

Wow I feel really bad for you chaps having update issues :/

So far I haven't had that many issues with BF3... If I stayed near I'd help :(

The choppers missiles fire really strangely, it's really difficult to get the first few to hit. I fire one now and then correct and try again. Never really been a jet person but I've found that they die really fast when shot with AA..

Otherwise the patch is cool, the bigger caliber weapons do there job better now that the spray-and-pray smaller caliber weapons are less accurate.

-Still no cook-able grenades
-Still not saving immediately after a match

On the + side, chat screen is a lot smaller... But that's all I can think of.

I seem to have a problem playing 2 matches consecutively. When the game's spose 2 load the next map, it just says "LOADING".

Which obviously means I have to constantly exit the game and wait 10 mins to get into another match! If this continues, I'll just stop playing.

Yesturday I saw a chap stuck up on one of the flag poles, he was trying to move, could shoot, but we could not killhim?!, at one point after respawning, my game started spinning slowly, I could not move with the mouse, but could use the keys, so I ran sideways, then in reverse, till somebody killed me, on respawning it happened again?! Had to quit, and reload. The game after that I got into a tank, started driving, got stuck on a rock, could not move or even get out of the tank.
So, they fix 1 thing and break another.
