Crysis 2 review - single player (MyGaming)

I think you misinterpret what Alan was saying regarding consoles.

If they wanted to sell as many copies as possible, would they release it on pc? No, they would release it on console because of the fact that they will be making a 'kakhuis' full of money by doing so and also release it on pc for a few extra bucks.

Any developer would choose consoles as his main market because of the masses playing on the platform and the higher chances of getting paid for their product.

I think that most PC gamers don't have an issue with games being developed for consoles and then being ported to pc (if they get ported), the issue we have is that developers tend to treat the PC like a console instead of treating a PC like a PC. This meaning we would like to have customizable graphic options to tweak the game to work on our systems if we experience trouble with the game, as well as customizable controls and not hard-coded controls.

And if the developers can, please release a DirectX 11 patch and some HD textures for us to test out our hard ware and actually make use of the high end graphics cards some of us are sporting, because testing out your imba dual GPU DirectX 11 capable card with DirectX 9 games, could've been done with your card you had 6 years ago.

That statement, to me anyways, sound like another "consoles are for dumb kiddies, real gamers play on PC" statement like the hundreds on this forum alone.

I hear what your saying, but how does that translate to it being dumbed down? or a dumbed down game released on consoles?
From a developer perspective why spend extra money developing the same game twice when you can just port it and save on that dev cost and have clean profit to put towards the next title? Like I said before, its all about making money. That is the point of the business.

Dude seriously, I think if anyone says anything negative and somewhere in their post they later include the word "console" you will have an issue with it.

I think my statement was clear, I never mentioned anything in it saying or implying that "consoles are for dumb kiddies, real gamers play on PC". Sorry if that is all you are used to hearing from PC gamers, but I did not insinuate anything like that.

Read my post again and take of your "he-plays-on-pc-so-he-will-say-something-negative-about-consoles-glasses". I only pointed out the fact that you may have misinterpreted Alan's quote about sale numbers and consoles.

I also then clarified further that I and probably most other gamers don't have issues with games being developed for consoles and then ported to pc, only that when developers DO port the games that they treat a PC like a PC - meaning a computing device mostly operated with a keyboard and mouse with some additional peripherals and has countless configurations - thus the part about tweakable graphic options and customizable keys - not rocket science, just good practice.

They don't have to code the game to work on every possible configuration, just allow some tweaking with the settings and most pc gamers will figure it out themselves.

The only negative thing you could maybe have an issue with is the part about DX11 and DX9 and the six years ago thing.

Also I did not argue the point of the business. I know its to make money as is the point of every business.

It seems I did misunderstand Alan's post, but didn't think any of your post reflected that same sentiment. I guess I've been hearing it so much that I jump the gun. My Apologies.

I think we (or just me) have steered this thread of its topic.

How so? It's the developers who chose to release games for dummies for console.

You know, any credibility any of your arguments might have had just went straight out the window with this moronic sentence. Good job.

If you say so....

Generic Cover art you mean? The same can be done with PC cover art. What is that suppose to "prove"?

While I was willing to concede Sou1Co11ector's point that I may have misinterpreted your earlier comment this really doesn't leave much room to be misinterpreted.

Alan is clearly of the opinion that anyone who plays on consoles are 'dummies'. It would have been sad had it not been so pathetic.

Sorry Alan I am going to have to agree with the guys on this one , Yes we are PC gamers too.
I don't have any issues with consoles , some games just work better.
To the porting /dumbing down issue .... guys what ever it is this is there product that they are selling , and your willing to pay for
How they run their business is their business , and I'm sure in their best interest
Porting or developing with consoles in Mind makes sense to maximise distribution which equals advertising / Publicity across many area's of players, Which in turn bring sales.

Adding exclusive content and DLC is how they cater , to their customer base .the fact that your pissed off , doesnt change the fact that you did buy it, and if you didn't for what ever reason that's your choice and ok too.

END OF THE DAY Its a GAME and it will be as good or bad as they decide it should be.And you can decide to buy or not , wither you like this or that about it or don't is irrelevant once you made the choice.

Nice discussion going, but I was just thinking in terms of difficulty which seems to be lost in porting :p

O well, just going to unlock the hardest one then :)

But Crysis wasn't that difficult so IMO there isn't much lost.

My advice is Unlock Super Soldier and dont use stealth, also don't use the visor. That could provide you with the difficulty boost you are looking for, I was playing stealth and unless I get seen its a walk in the park. Also since the suit upgrades carry over if you play on Super Soldier I would try an entirely new game.

Crysis 1 was only more difficult because the soldiers took more bullets to go down. And the aliens were so unpleasant to fight.

So the difficulty difference in crysis one was cheap.

I found crysis two a far more enjoyable game. Seeing new york torn up was fun :D

I found Crysis 1 to be much more difficult than 2, even on Easy. I didn't mind as much, though, because I I usually play through games on easy or medium just because I don't have as much time to spend on any single game nowadays.

I think difficulty is entirely subjective, ask 10 different people and you'll get 10 different answers. Good Example, I love Demon's Souls & Dark Souls but most of my friends find it too challenging.

Already not using the visor :)

One of mine just quite and gave up on it after 5 days :D

Crysis 1 was a tech demo with very little thought put into the actual story. They only focused on graphics, yeah the ai was slightly harder to take down, but I assure you Crysis 2 on super soldier is no cake walk xD.

As for graphics, the guys saying the game wasn't graphically impressive or they expected more, please install the DX11 upgrade patch and run the graphics on max settings and see how Crysis 2 eats your're rig alive. The game is beautiful, the graphics are crisp and well rounded. Crysis 2 is right up there with BF3 and Witcher 2 when it comes to graphics.

At the end of the day, still 2 of the my fav games of all time, although if I had to start playing Crysis again, I am pretty sure I would always end up playing Crysis 2.

This... I did not expect. Nice post dude.

However I'm finding Super Soldier a "cake walk" but I use the visor and play heavy stealth and not to mention I am enjoying the added benefits of all suit upgrades unlocked. Though I am not very far into my second play through. Would you say the AI gets smarter on Super Soldier?

Thanx :)

Out of personal experience I would say the AI seems to be more alert, I don't really think they get smarter though. They def became harder to take down, especially trying to play without stealth, if one spots you its a lot harder to get away, even attempting to take down a medium sized squad requires perfect timing and some balls if you don't use stealth.

I have clocked the game countless times, and on my last run through I decided to only use maximum armor on super soldier..and to be honest it was incredibly hard, there are certain parts that made me wanna rage quit lol xD I am not gonna spoil it for you, but the 2nd part of the game on super soldier is insane..It becomes a serious fight for survival.

I also have to say, the guys claiming super soldier is easy should really play it without stealth, also once you have unlocked super soldier, you're suit is pretty much upgraded so that helps quite a lot.
