Comic Books

Ok its picking up pleasantly now , amazing how a few small things put a new spin on old ideas
Im sticking with the core 5 , of the DC 52
Amazing spiderman , is really hotting up .
Question how many of you guys are doing Digital copies , been thinking of switching my Marvel subscription
Dont get me wrong I have errrrmmmm Downloaded a few Digital versions , but it doesnt feel the same , as when I get home and there is a package waiting to be opened. Plus not sure the PC is the best place to read , fact is sitting up straight is not comfortable , may be I should get a tablet .

Nothing beats a hard copy comic. Oh and yeah Spidey is getting awesome. Always been awesome really.

Tablets work absolutely awesome. Comics are also available the same day it hits retail, so there's no delay in getting it from a local store.

New Asus Transformer Prime is out. Using my older TF101 model as a ebook/comic reader and works great. Prefer hard copies though. Speaking of, probably need to get more boxes now that I've fallen back into the habit.

Hard copies FTW. I do sometimes grab an issue or two on my iPhone using Comixology. Lekker little app.

Batman, JLA and Green Lantern. Considering some others, but will see.

Nice. I do those too. And ten others.

Quick side note: Is anyone getting the mini-series from Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray called 'The Ray'? I subscribed to it after I saw an insert on it in the #3's of 52. Quite a lekker little story and I would love to see how that turns out. It is the same writing team that does All-Star Western (now THAT is a comic book).

Check it out, only runs for 6 issues, not that expensive either (initially scheduled for 4, but extended to 6. Let's hope that there is more).

That's specifically the reason why I'm on a mission to go 100% digital with my comics/mags/books. I simply don't have space to just store stuff any more.

I have started moving over to using the Tablets I have to read the monthlies
Space and the necessity to cut down on paper prompted the changeover

I understand the need to cut down on space and save paper. This is probably the future of magazines, comics etc., but out of a collector's perspective I would still get hard copies, and maybe get digital copies for those titles I don't care as much about.

I see digital becoming the norm and Marvel is doing a good job with the Digital editions , I use Comic Rack on my DHD which works well , and im sure on a Bigger screen would be better .
Plus the tree thing is a good point to justify the purchase , :).
still the thing about the Hard copy and the collectors edition's is in My experience now days its not just about issue number its about the content and whats happening , which unless you have a subscription sometimes can be hard to get a copy of if its all gone . All mine come from the States and its a expensive hobby , Digital is about 30% to 40% cheaper depending on subscriptions and packages .

Amen brother. Just look at Batman #5! JEEZ what an epic comic book. You have to have the print edition of that book, adds to the story quite dramatically.

Yeah, Batman # 5 was awesome. The upside down panels caught me by surprise lol. And that ending! Can't wait for # 6.

I agree with this. Digital comics wont hold any future value. So the ones I love will do hard copies and switch to digital for the ones i just enjoy the story and want to see where its going...only after getting a tablet of some kind really.

Its like owning art, some times its nice to have a fancy arty back ground on your computer you can look at and enjoy. But if you actually own that art...

Just read Justice league #5 very awesome read , the art is fantastic story really gelling well tomorrow I start Batman 4 and 5 .
Also switched my Marvel subs to Digital , figured I would know if anything worthwhile was going to come out and then just preorder a Hard copy.

JLA # 5 was good. Felt a bit short though. Got to the end wanting more. Think # 6 is gonna rock. Also picked up the first few issues of Detective Comics on recommendation by a fellow forumite.

The Quality of content in these new comic books is very high all of a sudden , not just DC Marvel as well
Must be cause of the movie's the live action and the animated one , cause for a long while it was just crap stories , and experimental art . Very few worth rereading , this new Batman is fantastic and Amazing Spiderman is fresh.

Yeah i get all my favorites in print (and agree with Venom its a sh!t expensive hobby, depending on shipment schedules I can spend close to a R1000 on comics a month) and then all the other ones that I have interest in I get digitally. If you have an ipad its an insanely convenient option.
Still won't give up on print though.
