Witcher 2 Enhanced Patch... Who started downloading ?

Weren't the instructions right on the download page? I just used the regular patcher and started downloading yesterday and it's busy installing atm with no hiccups *touch wood*, so it's kinda fail that the early birds got all the problems.

Update: Sweet it worked.

This is all they say...

The downloader can only be used when you have an earlier version of the game already installed.
The downloader is not compatible with the Steam version of the game, which uses the Steam auto-patching system.


To use the Enhanced Edition Downloader:

Click the following link to download the downloader and run it.
Carefully read and follow the instructions in the downloader.
Do not change the directory of the downloaded files until you update your game. Be sure that all the downloaded files are saved to the same directory.

My launcher has no options for updating or anything. I'm really not sure how the hell this is supposed to work...

Yes instructions:

1) download pre-patcher
2) start pre-patcher
3) let it finish
4) rerun to get final finals
5) execute setup

BUT no room or proper programming was made for

A) Debugging
B) Stopping
C) Resuming

Which obviously in my case - I didn't know which bin is broken or could I smoothly resume on timeouts... and it did timeout few times. Hence broken bins. In the end I had to re-download everything...
 
Finally figured it out, had to re-install because my launcher was not doing updates. It's busy installing the update right now. :)
 
Going to try the updater method. Hopefully that just works. Even after complete redownload of manual files it fails at certain file.

Seems that my guess was correct using resource monitor and looking at which patch file it is at when it didn't want to continue. At least it was only re-download of 19, 20 and 21.

Glad that WA is not my isp. Had they been then I surely would have had a warning letter for downloading the EE patch twice and after that repeating some files.

Lol. PL language pack :mad:. Regets initial 2 files lol. Thank god for mweb uncapped.

That sucks dude. Seems mine installed just fine. Will launch the game now and see if any of the bugs mentioned are there.

Because of the devs being Polish, I thought I wanted to give it a spin in it's natural language. Lol. Now EE picked that up and I had to download it as well.
 
Well it looks like everything is working just fine. I really appreciate the newly added tutorial, I actually learned a thing or two from it. :)
 
Awww, I loved that there was no tutorial to speak of in the initial release. I died so damn much, but it was worth it. It felt like a kind of rite-of-passage for RPG gamers.

Also, I play a lot of my games in French nowadays. Did the subject at university two years back, but I've dropped it since. Want to pick up the language again.

Lol, it was brutal, but I agree it did feel really good to overcome the challenge.

Only noticed now that you said you got the POL language pack. I did the same, I'm actually playing it in Polish on the X360. Finished the Witcher 1 in Polish as well, it's quite interesting although the only words I understand are names. :p

I found that the patch was quite a mission. Or rather, the pre-downloadable patch was a waste. Had to download the full patch all over again.
I think the best option was to simply redownload the complete pre-patched game from GOG that everyone got for free. Not that much difference in size if I remember correctly.

Just install the gog version over your current version ?
 
cool. btw that md5 table is outdated... apparently they added the original file's then updated them without correcting the table. 2,7 and 21 is known to be corrupted. I redownloaded 1,2,7 and 8. At least I was not WA, but rather mweb uncapped.

However it just be easier to go via the GOG route. It's just disgusting that CPR couldn't write a proper patcher/downloader themselves and worst is that their own advice is go GOG route. Seriously. o well it's done now :D
