I must say I really enjoy League of Legends.
It's an amazing game to play with buddies. Not to into it if i solo it.
But i love the game.
Never played any of the other, Heard a lot of good feedback on Dota.
Might just get it :)

I'm going to be that guy and say LoL because I prefer it's game mechanics to Dota/Dota2. And just FYI, I have clocked up a lot of hours in Dota, having played religiously from 2004 to the end of 2006, so it's not like I don't know what I'm talking about.
I remember you!
Hon isn't too bad but a lot of the people who still play locally are all very angry and need to go get some therapy.
Yes absolutely, I prefer not to even play South African games in HON because you KNOW some jerk is screaming at you on the microphone because you didn't buy the item he thinks you should have bought.

Thing is; it's the new official DotA, it's made by Valve on an engine that looks amazing but can run on a pocket calculator, it's free to play and the paid subscriptions won't add any difference to the core gameplay. What's not to like?

Official DOTA? There is no such thing since no-one owns DOTA, at least not yet, and the people who've worked on it over the years are at several different studios.

You also can't talk about the moneterization policy of DOTA2 since Valve haven't said exactly what they are going to do, so saying it doesn't affect core gameplay is premature.

Except that IceFrog, the "longest-serving and current developer of DotA", now works at Valve on Dota 2. If that doesn't make him the single person most entitled to decide which build is official, what does?
And dude, seriously, start contributing something to the conversation instead of just debunking everything other people post.

Well if your post has inaccuracies then expect someone to point them out. You can't say DOTA2's F2P is fair and awesome and is totally not pay2win when you can't possibly know that since it hasn't been announced and from the sounds of things hasn't even been implemented yet.

I picked LoL but to be honest didn't the other a try since I wasn't interested much.
HoN wasn't "free" back then, and couldn't get a Dota2 key :D

Theyll follow the Riot route i suppose. Make it F2P but with loads of content to be purchased with money.
I'm not so sure about that. The key thing is Riot sell champions/heroes where DOTA2 might not, that is quite a big issue especially considering all the different game modes.

True it was not officially detailed out but it was stated to JoinDota.com by Valve that it will be free to play with a shop that will not affect the core of the game. I.e. NO +15% crit hats :p They made that point very clear because of the competitive future they see for Dota 2
So then we talking cosmetic changes etc?

Fact is it all remains to be seen once it is actually part of the game and out there for everyone. Allot of things and minds can be changed till then.

But considering where we are along the way with the game and things are really looking good. I think it would go into that model around August with the International 2, considering that all heroes will be in the game by then except maybe 5 or so if things goes to plan. (last part is statement made by Valve)
