Guild Wars 2

It sounds attractive, but the big thing for me is that while I want to encourage role-play I don't want to enforce it within my guild. I'm very big on everyone playing the game their way :)

Same with our guild. We have a few people keen to RP and I support it as well but more than half the people are not keen on it and are not forced to do it. A lot of us have always preferred RP servers though as they usually always have better communities and nicer players.

I don't RP, never have and really have no desire to do it. I just wan't to play the game with a great group of people, enjoy the content on offer and have fun doing so. :)

Yeah I dont RP either. Just prefer the attitude of people on the server as they generally older and more mature. Also that is only 1 community on the server and will only make up a small %

Well ... the nice thing about Guild Wars was that you pretty much could avoid inane chatter if you stuck to your guild and alliance channels and we weren't subjected to any of the Barrens/LFG type chat I've experienced in Aion. GW lends itself to a more mature style of play in general, and I'm hoping the same holds true for GW2.

As for myself, once I've settled down on a certain characteristic/personal style for my characters (which mostly mirror my own for the most part) I stick with that in all my interactions, so it's not strictly RP. I wouldn't want to become my characters anyways - it would be tricky since they're always female :D

Yes, you can join as many guilds as you like but you need to set one guild as your main server and they will get the experience from you completing daily tasks. Also even if you are a different server to us ("Iniuria") you are welcome to join us on mumble (VOIP) and just have a few laughs with us.

Yeah, I tend to shy away from General channels myself but it will obviously always be there. We are just going with what we think will be the server with the most mature users and hoping for the best. Besides, 99% of the time I will be playing with friends and community members so it doesn't really matter.

Role-play? Like pretending to actually be the character you created? Talking as if you were them, acting like they are real...sorry but that falls under the same category as Cosplayers to me.

What's wrong with cosplayers?

And yes, role-play is essentially staying "in character" so that the universe is more believable than... say... "ZOMG NOOB" and "GAI! GAI! GAI!" everywhere.

COSPlayers are H.O.T! ZOMG!! ;)

What are the most popular servers going to be here... have any been chosen?
I have seen some mentions of Petrified Forest and Jade Sea, but can someone summarise the popular ones?

Yeah, And you have less people running around with names like xxxstabyourmomxxx and iambesteu etc. You dont need to be a roleplayer or cosplayer to enjoy the attitude and environment of an RP server.

Like I said. I myself do not RP but it is teh best community of online gamers I have ever found

Still strange to me. I have nothing against cosplayers or roleplayers, in fact I dated some from both sides. Let's just say they weren't the most stable of people and that I would run screaming if I ever crossed paths with them again.

To each their own I guess. Just the stuff I have seen and heard and experienced. Will make you cringe.

It's fair not to like cosplay, or even see the sense in it, but I'd recommend never looking down on people who cosplay (or roleplay) or applying any snap generalisations to the hobby - it's just that; a hobby and pastime some people enjoy. I'm saying this not least because I'm very actively involved in the Cape Town Cosplay group's activities, and as a bunch they happen to be some of the most awesome people I have the priviledge of knowing.

On the flip-side - different strokes for different folks - I'm not a cosplayer myself, I don't have the confidence to pull it off.

I am not a roleplayer but I have normal in-game names. Dunno dude just don't get it, sounds like a big Days of our Lives festival.

I don't want to ask a guildie in some tyrian sandscript if I could please borrow their sword. I want to be able to go "OI you, with the fat head, lend us that pointy thing"

Ad shadow, I am not looking down on anyone. As always I am speaking from past experience from my own life. I just don't get it.

lilDeath...dude...wait till they take the make-up off before you say that.

Yup. Mostly I stick to PvE servers though, but I have a lot of respect for the RP community.

lol ... I don't think it will get that intense.

Would it? (0.o)

Some get pretty serious shadow, and again not naming anyone. I have done it and my reaction to it was....whoa! not for me.

Though I did see a cybersex session once between two serious roleplayers, that was creepy yet funny.

RPers only RP between themselves. You don't see it in everyday game play. The only thing you will notice is cleaner chat etc but even that is hardly noticable. Anyways. For anyone that is keen to try out an RP community use Beta to get a feel for it. You are given 2000 gems this beta weekend and it costs 1800 to switch to another server so if you find something you don't like you can just change. And I feel the same way as shadowfox, The RPs I have met are some of the most awesome people I have met and I myself dont RP.
