Guild Wars 2

The ones you should be scared off and run away from are the ones who can't distinguish between the two lives. If their roleplay carries over to real life and you get people asking for ALE and not coke :P.

I only roleplay as a fireman or police officer when the GF asks. Then I turn into James McBuff...the friendly yet strikingly handsome community officer.

since they're always female :D

classic case of MMORPG syndrome - Many Men Online Role Playing Girls :D

Role-play? Like pretending to actually be the character you created? Talking as if you were them, acting like they are real...sorry but that falls under the same category as Cosplayers to me.

While im not an RPer… I know some guys and girls that are and it’s a lot like cosplay… just minus the physical costume part… unless you wear a costume while you play… then psychological help is needed. But back on track… ok off track again:
COSPlayers are H.O.T! ZOMG!! ;)

AGR33D!!!!!... in some cases

On track again… some of the most creative people I know are RPers and they are actually awesome people to speak to. Sure you get the odd loon but such is life… there are loons everywhere. Some of the girls that ive met that are active RPers do a lot of creative writing and some of their stuff is truly legendary (Im a creative writing fanboy… sue me :D)

Though I did see a cybersex session once between two serious roleplayers, that was creepy yet funny.

Ive also seen that… OMG :O i didnt want to live on this planet anymore....

Thats kinky man.... :O you starting to worry me bro... duck tape... now fireman/police officer roleplaying :O

When the elf female removed her thigh armour to accept the orc's giant spear, I was ill for a while after that.

**Wasn't the exact words but it was close, really close.

Only thing you should be worried about is if the duck tape gets used on you.
Besides I only use it to make them stop crying so I can work...mwuhahaha I mean fix the sink or something.

lol - you'd be surprised by the number of girls playing male characters. Someone did research at some point about people playing opposite genders vs their own and if I remember correctly it came to a very near even 50/50 split.

Also, to add to that - RP'ers tend to be more mature in terms of their actions in-game - I noticed this when I started in STO a few months before it went F2P and it was mostly just the fanboys left, the atmosphere inside the game, and the discussions in general, were very ST centric and lent an awesome atmosphere to the game. It wasn't true RP in the sense that people were hardcore into it and would throw their toys if someone said anything OOC, but the chats were also empty of the kind of childish insulting and commentary you'll see in Barrens chat on the average day.

Now that it's F2P though - different story. Constant wailing about one or other thing not being exactly the way they like it, or slagging off of other players, name-calling, accusations. It's a pain to even play now.

And as for cybering ...

Now THAT ... I do not get ... :/

LOL gotta love double entendre! :D

Anyhoo, we should probably start finalising guilds and servers because there's still no real consensus there.

Friday can't come soon enough, I've been staring at the login screen all morning. I'm also a part of the Iniuria Guild and I can say that everyone in the guild is great bunch to have some fun with.

As far as all the roleplaying goes, I'm a LARPer, roleplayer and cosplayer of note, and while I'd love to roleplay in game, I know there are times people just want to play and have fun - I think it just comes down to playing how you want to play. :P

Hope to see some of you guys in game this weekend.

yoroshiku~

Well... we;ve got home server taken care of: Jade Sea.
Its just a case of a Guild Name now and then a proper list of everyone taking part this weekend with their tag/ID

I will be playing solo folks no guilds for me. Not joining and doing too many things this weekend. Just want to get the taste of it and then I am OK for a while. Will be PVEing on Jade Sea most of the time with friends

Same here. Exams coming up in two weeks so will peek at the server, whet my appetite, then disappear.

Panthis/ Shadowfox what guild are you guys in btw?

You 2 are also welcome to have Iniuria as an alt guild and I would love to do the same to your guys guild.
I enjoy keeping in contact with other South Africans and it would be a nice way to see what the community is doing.
Everyone has their own thing they are looking for in a guild and GW2 did it very well in allowing players to join multiple guilds.
Us at Iniuria would also love to host events along side you guys so would be great to keep in contact and grow the SA community. We are still a very small guild as we only started up Mid April and our user count is about 4 short of 50 members now but I'm sure it will grow loads before the game is released and once it is released.

Anyways if you guys have VOIP I would love to come chat sometime and get to know the other South Africans playing the game.

Just know that Petrified Forest and Jade Sea are the 2 most common. Look at the users posting and decide who you want to play with. I can only speak for my community and you will need to make your own decision. Decide on the community you want to play with and go to that server :)

A quick question to those who've already downloaded the client, what's the total download size when finished?

My progress this morning was round about the same as Glordit's.

I Signed up on the Iniuria forum a while ago, just putting it out there and currently myself and a mate or two are on our aces hey. if the MyG crowd get a guild together we'll go for that one but my main reasons for this beta isnt necessarily to start playing character progression or guilding seeing as come monday any and all effort goes out the window. i want to play with character creation, see what graphics are like so far in terms of development, see what pings are like as well as a few of the "main" features of the game such as WvWvW. id also like to see effect on pings and graphics in the main hubs such as LA.
