Guild Wars 2

This is rather alarming because I still have not received any 40mb updates! yet my .dat is 12.7. Am I worrying/obsessing about nothing?

Probably? Try logging in and see what happens. Chances are you'll log in fine. I just got in first time too :D

I must say though, this test seemed a lot more stable than the first beta weekend did. I had some problems logging in initially, but after that I played for about 3 hours with only one disconnect.

Still spent all my time on the overflow server though, which sucks a bit.

I wouldn't say my experience was more stable. Initially there was the 95% loading problem, then after that was fixed all my characters got stuck in main city hubs, game would crash to login screen if I entered city hubs or the Mists.

So I ended up creating a Char ranger and had tons of fun playing with a buddy, got about 50 minutes of not too bad footage. :)

I had the 95% loading problem as well, initially, but beyond that it was smooth sailing.

Got to play for an hour then went to bed, bloody work. Even wife is interested in the game now. Anyone else have major slow fps? Hoping this is due to the stress test and not my computer being slow..

The client is still CPU bound - so pretty much everything was running off your CPU and almost none of it on your graphics card. I assume this has to do with them trying to optimise the client as much as possible, but that's just a guess on my part. I reckon we'll see a jump in performance once all the graphics rendering gets pushed where it belongs.

I noticed some stuttering in the big fights - but I've seen worse.

When I first logged in I couldn't create a new character, kept getting a black screen. So I just decided to play as my old Charr character. After playing for a few minutes I noticed the fps was way worse then the last beta test and I couldn't understand why. Then I checked what GPU my Laptop(Has a hybrid graphics system) was using, and it was the power saving one. Switched over to the high performance GPU and all was good :).

I'm quite sure I saw either a tweet or forum post or something where Anet said that the client is only CPU bound for now, and that the better GPU support will be added in at a later stage.

I hope GPU rendering is added in the next beta, because as brilliant as the game is now it will be much more of a joy to play if framerate was smoother.

Can't wait for the game... Played GW 1 for many years and loved it... Still not too happy about the idea of underwater play? Anyone had a chance in the Beta to test the underwater area's?

Why on earth not?

I haven't spent a lot of time underwater - but it's definitely not something I can be unhappy about. The concept is executed exceptionally well, and it shows that ANet put a lot of thought and time into it.
