Diablo III - General Discussion Thread

Ooouch, must've raged lol. Which brings me to a question. Your items you had on your char, what happens to them?

Also, Nightmare, Act2... Wizard.... OUCH! If I see a yellow I cry... NEED BETTER ITEMS!

Lol not really, was gna happen sooner or later. Your items that you had on you pretty much go poof. Anything you had in your stash though gets transferred to all characters (even new ones you make).

Hows much different in strength are the mobs on hardcore? alot stronger than normal ?

The mobs are the same, only dif is u dead u dead. I am noticing though alot more gold dropping as well as alot more yellow items.

R.I.P Barbarian: Act I, Normal -- Act I, Inferno
A melee class that can't survive melee.

So after being frustrated by being forced to play like a ranged class on my barb and giving up all hope of actually killing stuff (without going the 2min barb spec) I've decided to retire him until Blizzard look at the melee situation in Inferno.

On that note I started up an OP Wizard and he is just ploughing through stuff it's awesome. :) Did the best I could to do a speed run through normal and I managed it in 11hrs 39mins, compared to around 18hrs for the Barb. Combined with a +19% monster XP gem I finished off on level 33 which was identical to the barb, so that worked out.

I'm currently slowly working my way through inferno with my barb. I started yesterday so I haven't progressed far. I finished the spider queen and then decided to log a bit. To much stress. I could deal with most packs but after SK, a had to skip 2 packs because I got smashed. My spec isn't optimal, my gear isn't optimal but I find it hard to try different specs. I play very melee and tank oriented and tend to stay on the fringes of the pack to avoid stupid ground effects.

With the amount of feedback and comments from the community I would love it if blizz buffed the melee's ability to play inferno, but I am not holding my breath. I'll break that mountain down one chip at a time.

hehe Monk, Wizard is cool until about Act 3 of Hell. Inferno is a kite fest and to be successful takes a loooong time. Be prepared to kite the length of the map and then some. Ow and to spend allot of gold on pots & repair cost.
Something like this: http://www.twitch.tv/theaisa/b/319523352 (watch till he kites the elite scorpions)
It gets boring quickly tbh.

The melee situation sux even more atm. All this is very annoying.

From what I read, DH > all atm and also not as boring.

Yeah but at least ranged classes are built to kite and attack at range, when you are forced to do that as a melee class you wonder what is the point of it all. :)

Also don't play Inferno by yourself, otherwise you will just kite till you are bored. One thing barbs do well in Inferno is disrupt mobs and keep them away from the range, with stuns and knockbacks. So when I play with wizards/dh's in Inferno they often tell me how much easier it is to dps with me there. I just didn't find that very enjoyable, and that's coming from someone who tanked in wow for 3 years.

So if you know a friendly Barb who is happy to follow you around and try keep you alive then you've hit the jackpot. :)

Ok well if you actually wanna kill the mobs and not skip 90 % of the Elite packs, you'll unfortunately have to follow the following to survive. I am in Inferno and I am in ActII at the moment.

Sword and Board.

You'll need a 1H weapon with minimum 700 dps and with some strength and vitality.
You'll need a shield with minimum 1000 armor and 20% chance to block 2750-4200 Dmg.
All you're gear need + All Resistance. (All and all a minimum of around 800 Resistance)
You need minimum 7-8k armor.
You need around 40K HP.

Skills need to be setup defensively.

Can't remember all mine now but will check later.

That build got me to solo 100+ Minions, 10-15 Elite's and 2 big ass creeps at the same time on hell act 4.
Its good enough to survive Act1 Inferno..ActII things start getting hard again..so you'll need to up + all Resistance to around 1200 and around 10k armor. You'll also need a weapon that does 800+ Dps ect.

All. Of. This.

There is a major theorycrafting thread on reddit right now, where a guy describes how his monk with a friends' barb finished the butcher in inferno. They had a wizard on as pure dps, but the bard and monk survivability is there.

I've done Act I Inferno, I know how to do it, I know what I need to do it. What I'm saying is the way you are forced to play just isn't that fun.

The general balancing is just broken, even in normal with the Wizard, some abilities are just plain weaker than others.
Compare Meteor to Disintegrate, just looking at base without runes;

Disintegrate: 20 AP, 155% weapon damage, pierces multiple targets
Meteor: 60AP, 200% weapon damage + 60% area dot over 3s, takes 2s to land after casting

So it costs 3x more, it's much harder to hit with, only does 1.5x damage maximum to a single target, potentially less considering the difficulty in landing in a good position.

Energy Twister was just epic lol, I cast it once and then immediately felt embarrassed that my character even possessed this ability.

You're absolutely right.

It isn't fun being forced to sword and board when you have a 1200 dps weapon sitting in stash :(
You should be able to play whichever way you want. Im def keeping my barb cause I know its a matter of time before they fix him.
For the time being im playing a DH, that's lvl49 in Nightmare act 4. So by the middle of hell he'll be lvl60.

The auction house stole some of my gold and an item. :( I see over at the technical support forum that a lot of people are having the same problem at the moment.

Stay away from the auction house tonight!

dammit me too! yarre!

anyways ... so i started again to enjoy playing with my DH ... got a new bow with over 200dps change some jewels around and bang! i can solo hell act 1 ... or at least i think so now, finish the skeleton king at least
