lots of cool improvements! but my net has gone screwy :( 1mb line downloading at 10kb with a ping to jhb of 200+ms...

Mine's been (1Mb Mweb) mostly fine. Had some drops here and there.

Anyone got a precise size on the update? Mine was updated as of Sunday, but I'm already on 5GB and it's got 6600 files left.
 
There've been a few additional updates added over the course of the past day or so, based on what I hear. So you might need to factor that in - the latest estimates seem to be pushing it closer to 6GB than 5GB. Also, it might depend on when last you let the client update - I've been launching it every couple of days and catching the odd 30 - 60MB update.

Ran it again and it's fully patched now. Thanks.
 
Are there any local suppliers where one can pre-order Guild Wars 2? Which is the cheapest?

Darn maybe I should wait, if one knew the release date it just might make the decision easier, and then maybe not ...

If you can't get a pre-purchase, you can just as well wait for the release...
 
A quick heads-up guys - ANet have posted info about the worlds for BWE2 http://www.arena.net/blog/the-worlds-of-the-guild-wars-2-beta

As you'll see - Jade Sea has become a de facto French server (I think we probably saw this coming), but ANet's going to allow free server transfers on the 8th so we should probably pick a new world to relocate to.

Petrified Forest was a popular choice last time, but I figured we should get some concensus going so we all end up in more or less the same place :)

Transfer period starts 9PM - so one hour after kick-off.

Discuss :D
 
I'm not too bothered about which server we are on for beta (already on Jade sea), but for launch, it would be nice to have some idea of which server the rest of the SAFs will be on.

Maybe we should look to move to a very low population server.

Yeah. All of the servers with the last BWE were packed to the brim. Chances are (no chance, it's a fact) they will be packed at launch too.

The stress tests were a whole different animal to the initial BWE - even Jade Sea seemed less crowded than usual. Petrified Forest might put some people off since it's the "unofficial" RP server for Europe, although I don't feel it'll impact our experience too much. It's also a bonus from a personal perspective because a bunch of my GW1 alliance friends will be there.

But in the interests of providing choice (ANet has added some new servers) - here is a list of servers not flagged as GER/FR. This is all based on the info off this link - I have no idea how accurate the info on it is though. There are a bunch of new servers, but no guarantee that they won't be assigned a language down the line:

Kodonur - Seems a lot of Polish are hopping on that one
Gandara - Lots of UK peeps, couple of others
Blacktide - Polish/Russian Majority
Istan - Multi-language - very little Eng from what I see
Vabbi - 4chan chose this one, so not my preference
Kourna - Not flagged as FR, but seems to have a lot of Frenchies on it atm
Fissure of Woe - Italian/FR
Underworld - Multi-language, but mostly ITA and POR
Ring of Fire - Mostly Romanian
Far Shiverpeaks - Dutch/Scandinavian
Petrified Forest - Seems like the choice of the moment
Gunnar’s Hold - Seems to be a new server
Olafstead - New Server
Boreal Station - New Server
Jaga Moraine - New Server
Umbral Grotto - New Server
Bjora Marches - New Server
Norrhart Domain - New Server
Dragrimmar - New Server
Grothmar - New Server
Sacnoth Valley - New Server
Shosa’s Hollow - New Server
O’Brien’s Refuge - New Server
