My question to you is this:
Who will be playing more? You or your kids XD lol, to be honest i dont really want to play the BWEs too much, kind of takes away some of the shock and awe i want when i play the full release version. I'll probably just log in to see what pings and performance changes are like as well as server choice

By the looks of it Petrified Forest is gonna be a gung ho RP server. Theres a registered German guild and 2 more that look like they could be english speaking.
Lakeside County has nothing registered to it yet
Whitside has 2 large Portuguese, a polish, a german, a few english and according to the listing is the home server for the Reddit team.

My thoughts exactly. Is is really so heard people? When the game goes live even if you pick a server like Lakeside Country that is ranked low, you will still get to play WvW and probably win as well. Remember A-net are fixing the ranking system, so you will never fight out of your league like you did in the last BETA.
And you forget the major flaws about going to PVP orientated servers, the lag and the ques, will you even get a chance to get into these WvW fights with it limited, or will the PVP whores take up all the slots?
Think beyond the PEEVEEPEE part of the game, kinda tired of reading about this. Instead of picking a server already shared by others, pick one that is not, AND MAKE THAT THE ZA server.

I'm kinda with Spartan on this one. Lakeside was well enough populated that I didn't feel like I was running around in a wasteland, and quiet enough that I didn't get knocked into overflow even once.
Plus it would be nice to claim a ZA server from the beginning - if we can get all the SA players on the same page we could probably be in a fairly strong position to ... well ... not dominate maybe, but at least be a noticeable presence.
As for PvP - I'm not pushing for it myself, but I will be hopping into WvW from time to time, and I'll be pulling any guildies that feel like joining in along with me. As a matter of fact - I think I will make one of my officers my PvP general and have him dictate tactics for a team, or whatever. Still playing with the details

PvP is not my focus but I don't want to be on a server where no one gives a damn about it, i.e. RP server. I left Lakeside for Whiteside because the level 15+ areas where dead, this shouldn't be an issue at launch though.

My parent got me a pre-order for my bday, so i will only have the 3 day head start
But i have already started downloading the client. I agree with shadowfox that we should make one server that is not too populated and claim as the ZA server

No-one's judging really - personally I'm happy with LC
I just want everyone, or at the very least, the big majority, of SA players on the same page when the game goes live. And as little animosity being caused along the line. You can be guaranteed that there will be at least a few who are going to feel that they're being forced into a decision, but at least this way they'll be forewarned.
We should probably also consider being willing to reserve names for folks who can't make the early access slots. I'll volunteer one of my character slots since I'm probably only creating two chars to start with - the majority of my names are already reserved or unlikely to be taken.
Hey guys, sorry for the long absence from these forums. I am a part of many gaming communities as well as participating in quite a few gaming leagues as well as trying to reconstruct a lot of Iniuria including website and the likes. I took 2 hours to just catch up on what I have missed out on at mygaming. I am happy to see that the guild wars 2 chat is just as active as always and will make sure I am here on a daily/weekly basis. With NAG LoL league Leg 2 coming to end in the next month all my attention will switch to Guild Wars 2.
Anyways, speaking on behalf of the 70+ SA members in Iniuria I would just like to say that our number 1 priority is being on the same server as the rest of SA. With that said we obviously did our research before BWE1 and decided to go with a 1) Mature server 2) English server. With Petrified forest being an RP server it obviously had both of these. I never once saw another language and I never once saw any rage or childishness in the close to 100 hours I played GW2. Areas were always full and I never saw any Roleplaying at all anywhere if people were worried about that. I haven't found a single fault with Petrified forest and neither has the rest of the guild.
I cant say that I prefer PF over the other 2 options or any other server cause quite simply I haven't played on any other servers. All I do know is that we never had a single issue with PF. I can say that looking at the communities on WR server is that it has many different languages on it and we are really not keen for that. A Negative aspect with LC is that we don't know what is going to happen with that server. We don't know what languages or communities are going to populate LC .Other than that I will never say server X is better than server Y or Z like many members have done here without having looked at them all. What we need to resort to is what the positive aspects (and negative) of each server are and discuss what we saw on our servers.
Just remember that no matter what server SA decides to go with we will go with that server. Just please try discuss the positives and negatives of each server instead of just saying "SERVER X IS THE BEST!".

Thanks for getting your opinion in. This was pretty much the reason I created this thread - I wanted everyone to be able to feed back regarding the servers they played on - I very much didn't want this to be a poll or a decision thread; this is literally just here so we can get an overall picture.
The only issue I see many people having with PF is the role-playing aspect (I know this has the positive benefits in terms of keeping the kiddies/ragers away) - this does turn a lot of people off, even if it doesn't end up dominating the overall gameplay.
What I'm going to try and do - I'll engage with James and see if I can convince him to post my survey (still working on it) on the front page, and then we can spread it as far and wide as we can to get as much feedback and votes as possible.
I'm basically dividing it into two sections - section one is literally server choice and nothing else. This will give us the chance to vote for our server of choice, which may or may not be a deciding factor.
Section two will be more general survey questions that you can answer if you really feel like it - just to get overall picture of the local community. It just occurred to me to ask - if you have any questions you might like to see, PM me with suggestions and I will try and work it in. We can make it a genuine group effort
