Battlefield 4 confirmed, beta access through MoH: Warfighter pre-order

And I went and bought the new premium dlc. If I had known BF4 will be coming so soon I would not have bought it.

Battlefield 4 only late next year / early 2014. Thats still a LONG way away...

I don't see what the fuss is about?

That's actually not that far away. The thing is, Battlefield 3 (with the right amount of care from DICE), is a sustainable game that could be kept alive for some time with the right support. Look at Battlefield 2 (I myself haven't played it, but you could say that it was sustained for some time without being stale). A quick release of Battlefield 4 begs the question of what will they bring to the table (other than a re-skinned BF3)? It also begs the question, where's Bad Company 3? This might not be a good idea...

EDIT: also consider that EA is also clearly bringing back MOH as an IP with more sequels to come. releasing this many shooters without letting the community fully savor each offering, might not end well for them.

So I've argued the negative... On the other hand, the Beta access seems to for late 2013 which could mean that the release would be in 2014 as markface pointed out... That would be close to a 3 year gap, which isn't too bad... And the premium guys might have to consider that their premium purchase is a once-off thing... I'm on the fence on this one

That's the thing, sustainable doesn't bring in as much cash as new, hyped-up, releases. There's a reason that COD get's a new release every year instead of sustaining the game for longer.

What pisses me off is that they shat on Activision for the whole of last year, just to do the exact same thing they accused Activision of.

They're already milking BF3 shitless, now they're already planning the next game after only the second planned DLC's release?

Bitch please.

In November of 2006, DICE introduced Battlefield 2... And it was a great game (proud of of legitimate copy :p)...

6 years on... And they introduced its successor, which is now hugely popular among the masses of gamers.

In a six year gap, they've really made an ENORMOUS change in how we (the player/s) are experiencing FPSs.

Having said that; I feel that... Given the technology we have in this day and age, another Battlefield in the series, in a 3 span should suffice. However, given another 5 years, Battlefield 4 should have a greater stance, greater definition and a lot more immersive than its current predecessor.

EA really shouldn't fall into the same pit Activision have so lovingly run towards. I would hate to see Battlefield going down the same path as Call of Duty has. IMO.
