Anyway! I just got to play a bit of this stress test and it was so much better than Wednesday's! My graphical lag was completely fixed. Woot!
My popup was still around, unfortunately![]()
Lucky, my fps is still sub-20
At least it is in the Sylvari starting area.
Sadly when making software for PC's no two PC's are exactly the same, I can only guess that they keep working on optimisation. I was getting 40fps+ on High/Max, since BWE 1 (only extreme lag I got was from having 1000+ people in the starter area.)
The 25th can'not come fast enough now...
Added "-umbra gpu" (no quotes) to the command line and the issue was resolved on both my nVidia card and my wife's ATI
Yeah so I used last night to test performance again. What I noticed was that as long as I was alone in an area my fps would be fairly high (50-60), but the moment I got into an event with 15+ people in it my fps would tank all the way down to 17fps.
So clearly the optimisation remaining is on player character models level of detail (LOD). This is very concerning since a big part of the PvE is getting involved in large group events and if my fps is going to take a hit like that every time I get involved in such an event it is going to put me off from doing so in future and I'd rather avoid them (it's no fun playing a slide show).
I'm not sure what they are going to do to remedy this issue, but I really hope they are working on it.
Well if they can add dx11 the performance should increase quite a bit if you are running a modern gpu.
Anet stated that DX11 will not be in the cards for the foreseeable future. I still think the game can be more optimised, I just don't know the ins and out of how their engine works so how difficult it will be to optimise is not clear.
There is a large-ish update today, about 400+ MB, maybe there are some new engine optimisations that have been added, I guess we'll see in this weeks stress test.![]()
During the open BWE I was playing on max and didn't find any big fps drops, even with hoards of dudes beating on event boss monsters.I find it somewhat odd that so many are reporting FPS lag when there's a bunch of players around. I've been doing the stress-tests on my laptop (GT520 on-board) with minimal issues.
Of course, I'm not running at max, but still ...
LOL...so they removed Lakeside from the final server list. Time to start a new debate on what server we will join. WHOOPIE.
Here is the final server list:

We will be conducting a stress test tomorrow Wednesday, August 15 from 12:00 Noon PACIFIC Time to 4:00 PM PACIFIC Time.
We will be actively working on the game during the event, so you might experience connectivity problems or discover features that are not working as designed.
Any issues you experience are a result of the rigorous conditions of the stress test, and are in no way representative of the state of the game at launch.
By participating in this stress test, you’re helping us make Guild Wars 2 a better game. Thanks for your cooperation—we’ll see you in-game!

Please note:
* The stress test is open to anyone who has pre-purchased Guild Wars 2.
* Characters will not be wiped from the previous Stress Test.

Hello all,
Seeing as Lakeside county is no longer available, I've setup a Poll so we can try and find a new server.
