Terrifying video game enemies

Harbinger wasn't that scary.

Alma from F.E.A.R. terrified me, and I hear the Creeper from Minecraft is a thoroughly scary beast.

Thesuffering_030504_03.jpgnot sure if anyone ever played the game, The suffering.

That to me was the scariest game i ever played, If im not mistaken the things that gave me the biggest fright you saw straight from the start and were called slayers or something like that. quite an old game now but definitely the best horror game i ever played.

As soon as Tarryn has fixed the image, she will be lowered into the MyGaming headcrab pit to scrub the latrine trough.

Come on! Seriously?! Mental was far more terrifying than all of these:

I'm actually very surprised that Harbinger made it onto the list but not Alma.

While playing Mass Effect 2 I thought Harbinger was more awesome than scary. Alma on the other hand, God, to this day I still haven't finished the first F.E.A.R.!

I think that the "Maneater" demon from Demon from Demon's Souls needs a special mention as well.

As mentioned in the article, there are so many from Resident Evil that almost made me throw a controller through the TV. I remember the Zombie Dogs, zombie hands bursting through boarded up windows, seemingly random encounters with Nemesis...Dammit.

Also, but Silent Hill (the town itself) scared the hell out of me (that counts, right?).

ssssssss BOOOM

Huh?

Agreed. Those things where pretty terrifying - the worst part was that you could hear them coming as those metal 'feet' scraped against the ground.

Awesome game.

Yes! and being in an insane asylum certainly helped the scene. First time i played the game the slayers gave me such a fright i quit and didnt play the game for a couple weeks until i felt brave enough again :p. Landed up finishing it as i came to the conclusion that hey it is only a game. But yea just couldn't play at night with the lights off. Was a bit younger then but still glad I played it when i did.

I still get the occasional nightmare from those psionic monkeys in System Shock 2. Haha.

Other mentions should go to the aliens playing a marine in the first AvP game.
