XCom Enemy Unknown

That just means if you pre-ordered when only the first item was unlocked you will still get items 2 and 3 if they also get unlocked.

I hope your interpretation is correct. :D

My interpretation was more cynical. If you pre-ordered in tier 3 and it doesn't reach the end you get nothing. If you pre-order after tier 3 you get nothing.

That would be the worst pre-order incentive ever. If you buy it post release you get nothing.

I got some hands-on at Gamescom, and I was sold immediately. They've done just the right things to make usually dreary turn-based strategy a more exciting experience.

I haven't downloaded the demo yet, but I assume it will be the same - the first few levels of the game, and a couple of multiplayer maps to try out.

Definitely worth checking the demo before buying to see if it's your type of game.

Thats good to hear. I want to try the demo on steam and then want to get some handson time with the console build at Eurogamer this weekend before I decide which platform to get it on. The Free copy of Civ is a very tempting reason to get it on PC though.

I've heard a lot of complaints about the revised movement system, but I'll still get it anyway.

For anyone looking to get this game Green Man Gaming has it for $39.99 and with their voucher the price is knocked down to $32, plus it's a Steam game so you'll just be getting the key from them and downloading it on Steam anyway.

The voucher code: GMG20-27J4Z-8NXHO (valid till 1st Oct)

The "GlamCam" thing or the fact that is not as grid based as Civ?

Would you still get the Steam Pre-Purchase bonuses though?

From £29.99 to £26.99 not really a huge difference. I may just get it off steam and be done with it.

Just completed the demo myself. They really hold your hand which is quite unlike XCOM fashion :D But I think it definitely has a lot of potential! Looking forward to 12 Oct when I get my hands on my copy!

After the cock up I had the other day from trying to do a digital upgrade with Blizzard, the only company I trust is Steam and Humble Bundle.
Can't be worse than origin:

1) originally crysis 2 installed in win7 OS :)
2) boot to windows 8, point origin to games dir
3) origin wipes the crysis 2 installed files
4) origin starts to redownload it

...So only this morning I had crysis 2 again sigh.

The demo is very short, only the tutorial mission and one proper mission.

I concur, for a game that is supposes to be about the home base strategy as much as it is about the squad combat the demo seemed entirely too focused on the squad combat.

I enjoyed it though it has done little to help me decide which version im going to get, the PC controls felt a bit finicky to me. Like the movement cursor would jump or end up on the wrong side of the cover I wanted to move to. And adjusting the elevation was also off along with the scenery cut away when you headed inside. Is possible this is just because I have played a similar styled game in ages.

All in all it looks promising, once I get some handson time with the console version at Eurogamer this weekend I will decide which version to get.

So Mist of Pandaria is due out the 25th, on the 24th I go onto battlenet and purchase a digital upgrade to for my Cataclysm to Mist of Pandaria, pay by debt card, payment goes off all is well. 2 hours later I get an email from Blizzard saying no the digital upgrade couldn't be completed and my account has reverted back to its pervious state, yet the money is still out of my account. Phone them, since they cant help over email, lines stay busy until I finally get into the que and after 45 minutes on hold I get to speak to a human. He tells me that the payment was declined because it was made from a suspicious looking ip. Turns out because I bought it while at work and not on the same ip as my wife normally plays they flag the account as compromised. I am still waiting for the money to arrive back in my account and I had to go and buy a digital copy off amazon which I only needed the serial for, didn't even have to put the bloody disk in the drive. Last time I try and go the easy route, with Blizzard anyway.

Rofl, you have to wonder if it's a common issue they encounter... People paying for other people's stuff :D

@ Omega - looks like you do get the preorder bonuses - well at least the first tier but I would imagine with it being a Steam key it would be exactly the same as buying it from Steam
Pre-Order now to receive the Elite Soldier Pack DLC, included at no additional charge. The Elite Soldier Pack includes:

Classic X-COM Soldier: Instantly unlock a new recruit in your barracks inspired by the original X-COM: UFO Defense. The blonde, flattop hairstyle will return in its full glory, modernized with the rest of the XCOM universe.
Soldier Deco Packs: Customize your soldiers with several aesthetic upgrades to armor suits including the new Hyperion and Reaper soldier armor kits
Complete Color Customization: A variety of colors and tints for all armor sets provides complete customization of your squad’s appearance.

And the price difference in Rands is pretty decent (R265 vs R415 off Steam)

Funnily enough I was one who had issues with downloading via GMG's capsule but they were able to pinpoint it down to my anti-virus web protection. And this game won't be affected by that anyway since you just get provided with a key to redeem in Steam.

At the end of the day it's up to you, just thought I'd let everyone know about the option :)

They should really drop their anal IP attitude. At least I only had to phone them once.

Thanks DarthMol, I got it from GMG with your voucher. Saved about R150, and I'm not really interested in Civ5 or TFT2 anyway so no loss with the tier 2 and 3 steam pre-order bonuses.
