...seems that BFG is censored; doom 1 and doom 2 that is:

Doom 3 BFG is internationally censored
German web site "Schnittberichte.com" (the sister site to Movie-Censorship.com) reported today, that several elements of the BFG Edition were altered in order to guarantee the release of an International version.

For instance, the two secret levels in Doom II, which were influenced by Wolfenstein 3D, had all their Nazi symbolism, SS guards and Hitler portraits removed.
Instead you're looking at blank walls and fight regular enemies.

Can't really see myself wasting money on this. I think their main target was console market, however it is a bit too late i think.
 
You should have added Prophet as one of the official reviewers.
He is clearly the most hardcore Doom player here plus he has the Doom avatar :D. If that doesn't qualify, I don't know what does (except for perhaps having a gaming review website) :)

That is a bit crusty... I loved that secret level. I played Escape from Castle Wolfenstein RELIGIOUSLY when it first came out... and I LOVED the homage Doom paid to the franchise by including the Wolfenstein first and last levels in their games.

But the swastika sensitivity is getting ridiculous IMO. How many other WWII FPS games are there? we gonna censor all of them?

I know things are still pretty hectic in Germany, and they censor ANYTHING that remotely resembles a swastika. Perhaps these Screenshots were from a German release?
