Msaa? Fxaa? Txaa? Csaa?

Specs? I run mine on the highest with my radeon HD 7950 & I5-2500K 4.6Ghz

Same cpu as you, 8 gig ram, ssd and a oc'd gtx 670, so it will take whatever I throw at it, just not sure what the 'prettiest' settings are these days (only a recent pc convert)

Yes Try it, if you get mouse lag, turn it down a bit and so forth, most of the time you don't notice the difference. Between 4X and 8X they really eat up you FPS's

No and NO.

Turn of everything to meduim.

Get cosntant FPS and you dont get blinded by shining BS and plants.

The more fps the better you are the the worse your game looks the better you spot the hadjies trying to shoot you :D

He is absolutely right. +1
Most if not all top clans, drop graphics to medium to low settings so they can have smooth constant game play.
Although I reckon with my 2 new cards I'll get smooth game play on maxed out settings on any game :D

Ja i agree dropping the graphics slightly won't affect your game and keeping those fps's are the most important in online play

My monitor can only do 60fps anyway. So even with everything on FULL it stays at 60, no matter what happens on screen. Was just wondering if the AA stuffs actually made any other differences? Smoother texures? Better dynamic lighting etc?

As far as I know, antialiasing is meant to smooth out jagged edges [the "stepped" effect you may notice on the edges of objects on your screen by applying whatever formula is the flavour of the month to interpolate pixels between the jagged edges. It's a bit like applying a clever filter that blurs the edges of objects in The Gimp or Photoshop. [That is how I understand it.]

Why not do a before and after comparison to see whether you can live without heavy antialiasing?

There is literally no visable diffrence between AAX4, AAX8, AAX16. They just eat up your FPS ;)

Thanks. So I can just x16 everything anyway as my monitor wont go above 60fps anyways.

Will try and see if I can spot any diffs, but so far between TXAA and MSAAx4 with FXAA I could not really see any diff.

Ok What Cranky said, you spot peeps much easier on low gfx when you play so, I play all my SP on high and maybe on MP for a day or so to look at the pretty gfx and then they are set to med or low for constant fps, In cod4 we played between 240 and 125 depending on where you want to jump over what ;)

But do you not need a screen to support that high fps? a normal 60hz screen is only ever going to be able to show 60fps?

GPU etc is fine, it can prolly run blops 2 at 300fps, but useless unless the screen also supports it?

Put everything on max, and check your FPS. If its choppy lower the AA then test again. If your still not satisfied turn down MSAA and FXAA rinse and repeat, changing the GFX is all about trail and error ;)

But you have a pretty powerful PC so you should be good with everything max

Ohh and a better screen will do wonders! :)

Yeah tried everything, fps stays at 60 at all times. So no need to run the game 'ugly'

He has a 60HZ monitor so it wil lstay on 60.

The game is smoother the higehr your FPS regardless if your screen shows 60 fps. Your mouse stutters at 60 . I can feel it when i play.. Mine is set to 120FPS ( 60fps monitor ) and it works 100 %
