So BG:EE will be available for preload tomorrow (22nd Nov). Who's excited, who's getting it, who's dreading it?

New content, new characters, bug fixes and interface overhauls are what's promised so far.

Apparently, at least according to the rumor-mill, they're going to fiddle with the games in such a way that the eventual ending will leave room for a sequel to Throne of Bhaal, and the third game in this award-winning series.

They've all but confirmed they'll be doing BG2 next (depending on how well the Enhanced Edition does, obviously), and have expressed interest in taking a stab at Planescape: Torment, my personal favorite game ever.

For those new to the series, this is an old-school, semi-turned-based hack and slash role-playing game, set in the Forgotten Realms, one of the Dungeons & Dragons campaign settings. You and a party of 5 Non-player characters (there are dozens to choose from, all with distict personalities) set off on a grand adventure across the Sword coast. You'll be battling classic fantasy monsters, such as orcs, goblins, ogres and even dragons. The game is based off of the 2nd Edition rule set, which may be tricky to get to grips with, especially if you're used to more modern RPG's, but is no less engaging for it. The battles are very strategic and tactics-based, especially now with the improvements they've made.

I've already pre-ordered my copy, and am extremely excited about this, since I love Baldur's Gate more than anyone has a right to, so I'm expecting big things.

I've also pre-ordered this. I was so devastated when they announced they were delaying the release. It's going to be awesome!

^Yeah, we're all actually a little confused as to when it's going to be officially released. They had it set as the 30th, then the 28th, then just "November". They've apparently said they're going to be "really trying" for the 28th.

Also, there's this:

To all who have pre-ordered, we ask for your patience as we move toward our final release date -- and we will be working on something a little extra for you.

Sounds promising. :)

I cannot wait.

I actually finished the original two years ago. :D what excites me the most is it will have native widescreen support :p

I want to see exactly what the changes are going to be and how much of an improvement this will be over say just modding BG1 to use the BG2 engine. Initially I was hoping for a totally overhaul but that doesn't to be a the case unfortunately.

I want it, but I'm really not sure if it's going to run on my tablet.

From the FAQ:

What platforms will Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition be released on?
Windows PC, Mac OSX, iPad, and Android Tablets.

Also this, in case anyone is interested:

What are the system requirements for the Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition?
Required System Memory (MB) 512 MB
Minimum Graphics GeForce 2 or Equivalent
Processor Speed (GHz) 1 GHZ

Yeah, but I've got an unbranded Android tablet that I got for free from my ISP. Most 2D games run fine on it, but anything 3D dies a horrible death. BG:EE is technically 2D, but I'm not sure if it's going to run. Hopefully they will have a demo.

I was also pretty excited, but seeing some of the screen shots it really doesn't look all that great.

For an overhaul it looks pretty terrible. Would of thought it would look slightly better than BG2.
BG2 as the one who had the timeless graphics and that to this day looks alright when you up the resolution a bit.

love bg

damn - didn't even know this was coming out!

am definitely going to get it... i'm a massive fan. i absolutely loved baldurs gate - it was one of my favourite games ever.

Downloaded it, took most of the day, too. Seems like the MTN network shift has really done a number on certain lines.

I'm not going to be here for the next two weeks, so I have to wait before I can play. :(

Confirmed release date is 28th.

Your are welcome to redo it better :p

I think the redo was so it could support widescreen and iron out the bugs and just make it a better experience by adding new stuff to it. . I don't think the intent of the redo was to make it hd.

And to be honest I welcome the changes. I personally cannot wait.:)

Thing is though, is it worth $20 for a 'slightly improved edition'? I would give the product and good look over before I just jump on the nostalgia train and grab it without checking first.
