So BG:EE will be available for preload tomorrow (22nd Nov). Who's excited, who's getting it, who's dreading it?
New content, new characters, bug fixes and interface overhauls are what's promised so far.
Apparently, at least according to the rumor-mill, they're going to fiddle with the games in such a way that the eventual ending will leave room for a sequel to Throne of Bhaal, and the third game in this award-winning series.
They've all but confirmed they'll be doing BG2 next (depending on how well the Enhanced Edition does, obviously), and have expressed interest in taking a stab at Planescape: Torment, my personal favorite game ever.
For those new to the series, this is an old-school, semi-turned-based hack and slash role-playing game, set in the Forgotten Realms, one of the Dungeons & Dragons campaign settings. You and a party of 5 Non-player characters (there are dozens to choose from, all with distict personalities) set off on a grand adventure across the Sword coast. You'll be battling classic fantasy monsters, such as orcs, goblins, ogres and even dragons. The game is based off of the 2nd Edition rule set, which may be tricky to get to grips with, especially if you're used to more modern RPG's, but is no less engaging for it. The battles are very strategic and tactics-based, especially now with the improvements they've made.
I've already pre-ordered my copy, and am extremely excited about this, since I love Baldur's Gate more than anyone has a right to, so I'm expecting big things.
