Big Picture mode is absolutely stunning. It's better than both the Xbox and PS3's interface in my opinion.
I've been using it since it's been in Beta, I absolutely love it.

Got a special on controller friendly games for the launch of Steam "big picture", bringing steam to your PC with it's horrible horrible console interface.
I'm not a big console fan, but I like it! and it seems to be a lot faster than the "normal" steam interface, especially the store.

I'm going to try out Big Picture this weekend when I go home to my parents for the university holidays. 42" HD love, here I come. :3

My problem with Big Picture Mode is the overall integration still isn't quite there to fully realize a controller only experience. I can't make a 'Steambox' since there is no way to launch into BPM using your controller so you still need a KB+M. Then you also get some games which use a launcher, which also require KB+M. It would be nice if it automatically changed modes when you detected you switch from KB+M to controller.

Actually you can boot into BPM by default. It's in the settings. Similarly you can launch steam when windows starts up.

Also, pressing the Xbox controller's guide button while in the normal steam UI it launches big picture mode.

Ok those features must be new then, when I tried it didn't have any of that. :D

Karateka

Not exactly a special but a remake of a very old game on one of those Golden China consoles. Thought it as worth a mention.

From PRINCE OF PERSIA creator Jordan Mechner, the original side-scrolling karate classic comes to Steam with art by Jeff Matsuda (The Batman) and music by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin (CIVILIZATION IV).

Whether you are a nostalgic Karateka fan or new to the game, Karateka will charm you with its classic love story set in feudal Japan. Fight to save the lovely Mariko from the evil warlord Akuma and reunite her with her True Love!

Portal and Team Fortress 2 Beta just apparead on my games list in steam. Are they just handing them out for free now?
not complaining, just saying ;)

I've had TF2 Beta in my list for quite a while now, but never downloaded, no idea what it is. how can you have a beta of a game that already exists

There is a Counter Strike: Source Beta already for ages. Plus, Team Fortress 2 went free to play a while ago already.

I wonder how legit this is: STEAM Winter Sale 2012. Supposed to start on the 21st. (I see what Gabe there! Because of the Winter sale, the world CANT end with all those games purchased and not completed....mind you, I have a seriaaaaaas backlog on STEAM so the world end in the next 50 years! :D

Anyway, I googled and found this countdown thingy.

Speaking of steamgifts, I wish the ValveStore would ship to SA, they have some insanely incredible stuff I would kill the cutest kittens for! Just the Portal stuff alone is awesome! T-Shirts, books, muggs, small game char and object models...

Where can I get this stuff in SA?
