Depending on the size of the bird - small bird - no - since he would have used some petrol to get to the halfway point.
Big bird - not sure?
 
It's the only thing that makes sense to me :P But as I said I don't know the size of the bird - small like sparrow wont weigh more than 30grams, so that is less than the fuel weight used for 1km. (or it seems like it in my head :P)

Exactly after a Km a truck should have used a fair bit of fuel thus save for a bird to land on

You are a cook in a remote area with no clocks or other way of keeping time other than a four-minute and a seven-minute hourglass. On the stove is a pot of boiling water. Start the 7 min timer when its done start the 4 min timer and at half way though that would be 9?

As for the new question: Start both timers at the same time. when the four minute timer runs out. Start the egg immediately and immediately turn the 4 minute timer back over. Let the seven minute timer finish (3 mins) at which point, turn over the 4 minute timer and the seven minute timer again. The 4 minute timer will take another three minutes to finish, at which point turn the 7 minute timer over again and it will run for the last three minutes when you can take the egg off. (3 mins + 3 mins + 3 mins = 9 mins)
