Dead Space 3

DS2 threw wave after wave at you when you got to the end chapters, so this is nothing new.

I finished DS2 (again) literally minutes before starting with DS3 and the waves in DS2 are nowhere near as crazy as the ones I'm encountering in DS3 at the moment.

Wow really? This is why I'll wait for a price drop, this is not where I wanted the series to go...

Nope that's still early game, the more intense waves come later, but nothing like is described for DS3.

A okay then will have to play a few more hours with james in DS3.

James are you up for a game today or your bosses not allowing you to review the game?

Haha; yes we are going to smash a good few hours this evening. I usually knock of around 6PM if I'm lucky.

I don't see this as pay to win, surely pay to win is when the game is competitive and you can pay to gain a competitive advantage? Since the game is at most co-op, surely its just your choice on how you want to play the game? If you want to pay to make the game easier, this is your choice. jJst because you don't like it doesn't mean others shouldn't be allowed to access this? Its not like they are forcing you to pay, on top of that its not like the people paying are affecting your game at all.

It's a very slippery slope between having guys pay extra money for extra stuff that doesn't affect the game or allowing them to buy stuff which affects the game just a little bit. If you've ever played a game like Battlestar Galactica Online you will understand this very well. You can go and grind and complete your daily quests for months to get the first ship, or you can buy it for $5 and get it instantly. It sets a very bad precedent which can ruin gaming as we know it if it isn't stopped.

It's all fine and well if the developers make a killing and just do it for some cream on the top, but once they realise that they can just squeeze a little bit more out if they make it just a tad harder for the normal guys and a tad easier for the paying guys...

Look at Diablo 3. Blizzard wanted to add the RMAH to make extra money. In order to facilitate this they had to introduce online-only play. This ruined the game for most people.

Yeah, I also finished DS2 last week and the amount of enemies were nowhere close to what I saw in DS3. Not even the last chapter had that many enemies. According to my friend, pretty early into the game the game throws two regenerating necromorphs at you in cramped quarters while you have to fight off other necromorphs as well.

That said, I'm pretty miffed at myself for pre-ordering Aliens: Colonial Marines and not this. :(

All the games you listed as examples are online games.

Anything made by Sega I wait for after the release.

DS3 is pretty much an online game as far as I can tell. Have you tried playing it offline? http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/672893-dead-space-3/65390290

Online in regards to this discussion are games that you compete with other players, not you are required to be online all the time. What aspect of dead space does paying for something give another player the Win? As in your statement "pay to win". What exactly would a player be winning here? They complete the game quicker?

The same can be said for Diablo 3, which was also in his list of examples.

Just started playing this, its really an amazing game. Nothing compared to ds1 though, its like 2 completely different games. Both are awesome in their own ways. Ds3 focuses more on action than on horror .

Dude I can't wait for my 3 color ending.

That part with the two regenerating necro's was part of a section I had to reply because of the lame autosave. It took me a few tries to get past there and then I took on a side-mission. I was struggling with a particular set of necro waves and it was late at night so I thought I could just save and quit and continue later. Next night when I booted up the game I had to begin at the regenerating necro's again, I was not impressed.

I read a few forums here and there about the autosave and it seems that the game only saves when you are on the main story path, and not when you are doing side-quests or exploring. This is rather stupid if you ask me, since some of the side quests can get long and/or tough and it would have been nice to be able to save during one.

Still, the game is awesome, even if it isn't as much horror, so I guess I can find a way to forgive it.
