SimCity 2013

Connectivity will always be an issue, especially in countries in Africa and other parts of the world.

That's a common mistake that game developers make. Not everyone in the US has a good Internet connection. There are still lots of people on 56k etc connections. All of that aside though, I reserve the right to decide how I want to use my Internet connection and on what games I intend to spend money. Developers who think they own my Internet connection and can decide how I want to enjoy the game shouldn't expect a cent from me. I will much rather support the indy developers and other developers who actually listen to what their customers want.

SimCity 2013 is going to be an MMO? I played the classic SimCity back in the 90s. Ever since then I noticed the game was improved with better graphics and more features but I never considered going back unless I could play for free. I got SimFarm for Christmas but it had come with some other games in a bundle pack.

No, but I'd hate to have to buy my nuclear powerstation after I bought the game for R550!!

I simply wouldn't. They need to decide, either F2P with a win method like Path of Exile, or F2P with a fail method where it's pay to win, or they sell the game for the normal price and that's that. If they want more money they should sell expansions.

I'm sorry but I won't pay money for a game and then be required to do micro transactions. It's one or the other. Never both.

That's of course on top of the online-only issue.

Guys look at Cities XL instead then, not restricted to tiny little cities and the graphics are wow

4 day's left at first this was not on my radar of getting but seeing jesse and crendor play it it looks like fun.

The current state of gaming feels like a bad nightmare which I wish I could wake up from :P Online-only, pay-to-win microtransactions WTH... The industry is in dire straits and it's all because of greed. It's no longer the gamers who are leading the gaming companies.

Maybe, don't like the idea of online only.

Yep, deal-breaker for me too. It's a shame really.

Yeah that's a minus, but then I realize i play games that mostly online games any any case so whats the difference. Sure I might not have internet forever but when that happens I have many games from GOG I can play that does not need online only.

@Wyzak yeah the micro transactions is the one that scares me the most. you get this in your head that its so cheap for this and that and this and end of the month you realize you spend way to much on a game you don't really play anymore.
Gamers are leading the gaming companies they put in micro transactions and they see people spend money on it aka gamers so that is where its going. For how long this model will last nobody really knows.

Yeah sure the same goes for me, but if my Wii U is busy updating or downloading demos in the background and iTunes is busy updating and Steam is busy downloading. Why does that have to affect my single-player game? If my adsl line is down because Telkom screwed up in the exchange again, why should I not be able to play the games that I paid top dollar for? The majority of gamers appear to be far too agreeable.

I don't believe that. I'm yet to meet a serious gamer that actually likes the microtransaction model. All of the serious gamers are very concerned / frightened by this new trend. It's also telling to me that a lot of the big game developers in the world are no longer working for big companies but are working for indy houses. Look at Fargo from Wasteland, or Max Schaefer of Runic Games. Those guys brought amazing games to us in their prime and these days they are doing their own thing far far away from the big development houses. What are the credentials of the CEO's of Blizzard, EA, Etc? Which games did those guys actually work on in their lifetimes?
