On the 20th ( if I recall correctly) they are sending out the email's with instructions on how to download the client :)

Thanks, still 10k keys left.

They are leaving this beta quite late, i mean the game is LAUNCHING 2 April , and beta is only somewhere after 20 March? /boggle .

At this rate , i might skip beta anyway and just wait for launch.

I see that the client is now available to download. Beta is only open during this weekend, so make sure you get ready before then if you want to play.

Anyone have an idea how big the game is? The client doesn't really tell you much except that it'll take me 2 and a half days to download it going at .05mB/s

I'm about 70% or 80% and have downloaded just over 7 Gigs.

I'm not sure that the speed meter is correct as I'm getting 370-424k and it stays below 1 meg as 0.30-40MBs. AFAIK 424k should be around 4mbs as I'm touching my max line speed...

*Just completed the download and it's about 10.4 gigs*

All patched up, guess i'll have a look at it tonight. Looks like it opens up at 5pm (our time) for a change.

I also see they are dropping the NDA when this starts, so i guess we can give our impressions too.

So, been playing a bit. Not as intriguing as i hoped. It's a relatively vanilla 3rd person shooter, graphics seemed a little dull. It is ok to play for awhile, but i had little interest in exploring. Something like fallout is alot more interesting.

Also zero interest in doing all these little side missions, designed to be like dailies. They are just more obvious as to their repetitive nature.

The actual shooting is relatively fun. Animations could be better, and they are missing alot of the features found in 3rd Person shooters these days (taking cover, being able to slide along the walls etc).

I suppose the tie in with the actual tv show will be of interest, but compared to other online pc shooters, its mediocre.

It is also clearly aimed for console, the ui feels pretty crap on pc. So console players looking for a mmo-lite experience with emphasis on shooting things, this is probably not half bad on there, considering competition.

Character progression felt pretty lacklustre, nowhere as deep as i'd hoped. I think planetside 2 got more progression and class building than this.

Sadly all true.

Sadly I own the game as well due to impulse buy

I think in terms of game time, you most likely will get your money's worth though, since there's alot to do (like any online MMO type of game). Although i suppose it can get very repetitive, since i didn't see any real classes for variety.
