League of Legends

Got 29/1 just now with my fiddlesticks, I am enjoying him and my ashe a lot.

Wow dude really? That's amazing  haven't played him yet! Played three games yesterday! First one we won easily I got 13/2 with 6 assists after 32 minutes played as kha'zix!

Second one I played as Nami supporting a kog'maw it was a really fun game her ulti is so awesome :D got 4/0 with 22 assists.

The third one we lost I was playing Zed mid and well I got owned 6/7. I still have to experiment with him but he's a lot of fun.

Its not too hard if you time the ulti, fear and drain and with silence at the end if they alive and even better if its in a group fight your ulti will kill things fast inside it if you got over 400 power for endgame.

Ashe I usually get 15-20 kills if I get my items fast enough to put out tons of crits.

Also at first with Fiddlesticks I played so badly with him but after playing him for a few games I got the hang of it.

Finally taking the plunge, LoL download should be done as I get home... Hopefully some of you guys are still active since I'm sure it's different from Dota 2:rolleyes: and I might some pointers early on

Im sure youll do fine, you just need to get used to the champs, dota is much faster paced than LoL imo, but its nice my summoner name is my fourm name add me if you like. After a long loosing streak :( 7 loses in a row i finally turned it around , with darius my all time favorite(or so i think my top 3 is darius ,caitlyn and vayne) 14-6-17. Was nice :)

Play a support caster, AP Soraka and Sona. Rack up those assists like crazy!!

As a first time player Support casters are a fun and easy way to learn the mechanics, you can do quite a bit of damage as Sona or Soroka if you know what you are doing.

Would you believe I'm a hell of a support in Dota 2:D? Supports win games :p

Also, why no drag scroll invert? I'm so used to Dota's drag scrolling:(

Necro here :D

Started playing LoL again and i managed to get a team work ribbon whoop!

At level 20 atm can't wait to start with ranked

Switching it up between Jungle or Mid Kha'zix I play Ashe once in a while and Nami as a support :D

Cool I tried Master Yi (can be jungle) last night and he was quite fun haven't tried the ones you mentioned yet besides Ashe :D.

Great that more SA players are joining the LoL community. I know the lag can be an issue for some so if you want your voice heard consider signing this petition.
https://www.change.org/petitions/riot-games-give-africa-a-server

Don't really find the lag much of an issue here since we do get some low latency with the ISP's which is good enough to play competitively plus we have friends in EU so playing on a South African server won't help some of us.

I don't really like him tbh.

I stopped playing Ashe because its just to much of a grind and when you do get enough CS its usually auto attack till they the enemy is dead or use your ulti to initiate. Her abilities are actually quite boring. Don't get me wrong she can deal a shit load of dmg but its just not fun playing her. Good champ for Noobs though

Who's that Necromancer??? It's Dee!!!

I don't really frequent this thread much since I, for the most part, play the real MOBA game (just jokes :p). I plan to start playing this game over the weekend (for the 1st time). And as first timer I've been trying to read up on heroes, gameplay, items, game progression, player roles. To put it simply, I've trying to get a read on where it differs and where it's similar to Dota 2 in terms of mechanics (or to a lesser extent Infinite Crisis, but that game won't be a barometer until it actually gets released or goes into open beta). But I've figured just as Dota 2 was a daunting undertaking for me as a noob, LoL seems to be the same way, because there's a lot to sift through, and the only advantage I have, is that I've now got some MOBA experience behind me.

Anyways, I've got something like 1500 hours logged in Dota 2 (just over a 1/3 of those hours are from watching numerous Pro League and Tournament games in-client.), and I for the most part play support heroes and the support role, and my secondary being solo mid heroes. I'm not the best carry or tank, that's for damn sure.

With that little bit of info, what do you guys reckon is the best starting point in terms of heroes? And I wouldn't mind recreating my learning experience from Dota 2, as in joining a few of your games as a padawan :).

You shouldn't be playing lol if your into Dota 2.
It really is easy mode. I played quite a bit of lol before D2 and I enjoyed it but that's only because I was bored with the original Dota, which is also why lol got so huge, it launched at the exact right time, everyone wanted a new Dota and then this came a long to fill the void.

Also to the lol players, I am not being an ass, I am just telling him how I feel about the game.

(Still Easy Mode though) :p

Truth is, good Sir, I'm not necessarily looking for the depth that Dota 2, or even a game as complex as Dota 2. I think I've played a lot of Dota 2, and just in the short period of under a year, I'm also into the Pro scene as well. But there's always other games out there that could be fun.

Essentially if the game is fun, and has depth in mechanics, gameplay, and heroes, enough to keep me engaged, then I'm game. It's for this exact reason that I still supplement my Dota 2 playtime with Infinite Crisis (+70 hours and counting since I joined the beta), and it's not even close to the complexity and difficulty of Dota 2, but it has modes and gameplay mechanics that make it fun to play and sets it apart slightly from Dota 2 or League of Legends. Hopefully League is fun, and if it is, then I can add another game to the list of games I play. Sometimes just playing Dota 2 gets to me:o.

I honestly can say I played a lot of DOTA, and I tried DOTA 2 but could not get into it, it seemed too complex for me, and I was not willing to invest time into a game with that much depth. Granted it is a great game and VALE really have outdone themselves but It was just not "fun" for me and that is what counts. If I am not having fun then I wont make and effort to play.

To keep it simple, I won't put too much detail into everything for you at this point in time.

If you are new click: Play -> Co-Op vs. AI -> Classic -> Summoners Rift -> Easy or Intermediate. I would choose easy for the first couple of levels.

Sona - Easy to play since she is basically a faceroller. She has heal, speed and damage buffs as well as an ulti that does magic damage and locks people in place for up to 3 seconds. (they basically are forced to dance)

Soroka - Has an amazing Q which does damage as well as lowers magic resistance, Other skills give mana to allies or silence and damage foes, a heal spell which can save lives and your own. Her ulti is also a heal but it's team wide so it's good for ganks and that final bit of HP you need to last those few seconds extra in a fight.

Lux - A tiny bit difficult to play at first but once you master her slow and bind you will be melting enemies in your lane with her ulti. It fires a prismatic bolt that has quite some range.

Zilean - Mostly support, has a base skill with gives the whole team extra 8% XP . He can speed up the cool down of his spells and his ulti is a spell that rewinds time in the selected character if they take lethal damage.

Garen - As tanky as a tank can get. Great survivability and great damage. His passive gives him a 0.4% HP regen when not in combat which can keep him in lanes longer.

Ashe - Mana regen passive, arrows that damage and slow enemies. If you stack up Ability power and manage your mana regen well with some items, you can spam it constantly and when it comes to team fight's slowing down the enemy for that split second can help greatly.

It's easiest to just play with the "Free characters of the week" and see what works for you. Some will be fun and others will feel meh, you also have to spend IP on runes and when you generate enough XP start to use masteries. Don't expect to get many kills with half of the characters - I play support 90% of the time and rack up 20+ assists in a game and sometimes with luck (as Soroka) I can get a triple kill in a team fight.
