FireFall

Finally found an add on that changes the way the female engi/bastion frame looks. I found it irritating that I had to stare at a naked butt cheek all the time while playing. Now female engis look less like swimsuit models and more like combat professionals. I know that it only changes the way it looks to me, but that is all that matters.

Well the quicker easier way is just to switch to First Person, then all you see is a gun.
But either way, other people stare alot, and its funny.

I'm patching my client (seems I required the full 4 gig patch ...) and will then assign Officer rank to Shrike, who'll be able to accept invites. Grim Wolves admins are going to be discussing a day where will can all make ourselves available to be online and jam!

Sorry Blackswan, but I dropped out of Grimwolves, way too lonely. Hunting for an active guild at the moment. Look me up when you do want to jam together ;-)

I haven't been able to play actively since open beta, the few times i could get on, it was just a buggy mess. I seem to constantly run into printers/sin/calldown/garage errors and timeouts .

after a lot of blood sweat and tears i finally finished a successful download :D

will be checking it out tonight

For some reason I've had trouble with this particular patch. Everything else has downloaded with speed, except FireFall ... nearly done.

Ah! No problem! Everyone's just having an issue with the patching seeing as it was over 4 gigs and gave errors. Ignore my PM then. SilverTemplar, I promoted you. :)

Its a great game, great concept but limited in scope to a degree. I played it for 5 weeks and ran out of things to do. It probably has changed a lot since early beta, but still.

I never craft in MMOs but I actually enjoyed it in this game.

Yea, it's good, as long as you go into it with the idea of playing say a month or two. Don't expect years of gameplay here, but for a F2P title, it's pretty good. It's got a Tribes (jetpacks) vibe blended with a very interesting take on crafing/mining .

Now that i played some Farcry 3 , it's got a very Farcry vibe and is actually very solo friendly, both in terms of how you can just join up with random people to do the group stuff (no need to make formal groups) and in terms of content that you can do all by yourself. Everything is open world content.

Reviving this thread to just add a mention that this game is fiiiiinnaallly launching on the 29th. If you've been in beta in the past you should already be able to play the "early access".

Anyhow, i jumped in to see what changed since last year, biggest changes:

1. Battleframes now have levels like a traditional MMO. Level Cap is 40 , each Battleframe levels individually.
2. New Areas/Islands/Zones . Yes, the first zone we played all this time is only the first 24 levels. I saw on the map at least 3 more zones , i entered the second zone when i hit lvl 25, different mobs, different scenery etc.
3. Quests!. There's now a proper "jobs board" to start quests in the towns . Kinda like Farcry's quest in the towns. In the past there wasn't any quests at all, you just did the Ares (open world dungeons) and thumped, well now there's proper quests.
4. Group Dungeons (Instanced). There's now an entire island dedicated to what seems to me like group content. You grab a group mission in town and warp over there and do something that resembles a dungeon run. So far i could go in solo and random 4 other people was with me. The open world Ares dungeons are still there, but this is more controlled, no more sitting around waiting for an Ares mission to pop up on the map.
5. Crafting was totally revamped, it's now simplified by a lot. Battleframes are also now upgraded more logically (that other upgrade tree thing they had, i could not find it). Looks like now you craft the modules that you put into your weapons/battleframe instead.
6. More Battleframes, i saw at least 3 battleframes i haven't seen before, no idea what they do.
7. Open World PvP areas. I didn't actually PvP, i just flew across sections of the map where i got messages going "You are now entering a PvP Zone!!" , this wasn't there before.

I didn't see specific changes to the existing weapons and battleframes, my Bastion/Engineer played pretty much exactly like before, there is just now alot more ways to upgrade and modify the frame itself via crafting.

Since there's alot more content and levels i will probably jam around in the game a bit more. I stopped playing in the past because well i maxed out my frame and there wasn't anything to do. I still love the feel of the combat and the game, it feels like a Tribes version of Farcry (gliders , rocket boots, vehicles and traveling around large tropical themed areas) .

Downloading patch now, will also come back and check it out. See you in game ;-)

Cool, and the GrimZA guild is also still there , even though i don't know anyone in it anymore heh. Seeing alot of activity in the game, considering how long this game has been in beta i didn't expect alot of players.

I also noticed the zones seems to downgrade your levels to balance things out. I am lvl 25 and whenever i got back to the first zone my level is adjusted to lvl 24 (the level cap for that zone). So good part is, you can still play with your friends in the lower zones and not feel you are wasting your time. I also imagine it is quite important considering the open world invasions , you don't want lvl 40s pitching up in lvl 10 invasions etc etc.

Played some today, whats with the jerky mob movement? Is this just me? Whenever shooting at mobs they sort of jerk in your direction, bugs, humanoids etc.

I think it's probably a server bug, i've also seen it last night with the escort missions. Looks like some sort of performance leak somewhere that gets worse the longer times goes on.

Installed this again last week, all is great except for the rubberbanding. That's starting to drive me up the wall.
