Assassin’s Creed 4: shark-hunting game footage

Damn, do I let my love for AC win or cancel my pre-order and save the virtual sharks.

I love sharks and to see this in a game depresses me in a way. I think at this stage i will make a promise to save the virtual shark on my pc.

I know. It's quite upsetting to see harpooning be such a big part of this game, the same as the hunting in the previous game. I understand that's a realistic representation of those times but admit it's a part of where AC's gone recently that I don't appreciate much.

I know, I'm a divemaster so I spent a lot of time trying to fix peoples misconceptions on these beautiful creatures and here we are going back to these childish jaws fantasies of sharks. It's just disgusting to me but I'm also not gonna be childish and demand the blood of ubisofts execs over a side feature that I'm sure I can skip.

Did you know you are 4 time more likely to die from a vending machine than a shark.

Agree with your comments (as life long shark lover) - I'm one of those people that won't even harm animals in games.. Far Cry 3 was a nightmare :P
 
Tbh I'm not looking forward to this. Might be the first AC I haven't picked up on release date. I'll just go back to AC3,finish it and be done with the series until AC5 or something comes out.
 
I can't wait!!!! I have no problem with killing (most) animals in games, since they are just pixels. I do, however, not like killing dogs in a game, but I'll do it if I have to.

The more stuff they add for me to kill, the better. :p

I do get where people come from with saying this doesn't really belong in an AC game, but at the end of the day the more interesting things they add to do in the open world the more I am going to enjoy playing it and the more time I will spend playing it.

I know it a virtual fictional animal but I'm also shark defender so its like asking a vegan to kill a cow

I understand that, and I get where you are coming from, but IMO it's not the same thing. I have probably killed thousands of people/animals in games, but I will never harm any living thing (except maybe cockroaches) in real life and IMO you can't compare killing an animal in a game to doing it for real. If it's acceptable to kill people in a virtual environment why should it be considered unacceptable to kill animals in the same virtual environment, even if you love said animals in real life?

Fair enough. You must really love sharks.

Although I don't notice you having a shark forum avatar or signature. You do, however, have AC in both of those so that would suggest that you love AC more than sharks. Therefore, to answer you initial question in this thread, you should let your love for AC win this one. :p

My pre-order is safe for now, I'll cross that bridge when I get there. It will suck but I'm a big boy so I can tell the difference between fiction and reality.
