It'd be ignorant to believe that there isn't any, if at all, intelligent life out there in there.

Too much evidence to suggest and prove otherwise.

Maybe I've watched and read too much sci-fi, but what about the self-aware simulation hypothesis?
It comes down to earth and all the humans being nothing but a computer simulation running on a supercomputer in another realm. The intelligent life we seek may not be among the stars but on the other end of that computer in another dimension.

I don't care if there is Intelligent life out there or not... But if there is, I hope its hot men in fireman uniforms! Hiehiehie! :D :p

Define life...

There might be life just not that we are use to.

Also, one of my favourite quotes on the matter:

"And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space 'cause there's bugger all down here on Earth." - Monty Python

I don't believe there is any intelligent life out there. I believe it's all dead space. There's no evidence to support it outside of "There just has to be" and so far every attempt to find life has failed.

We're very much alone in the galaxy and if we continue down this path of destruction that we're on then there won't be any life left, even us.

I'm sure it's possible that there could be intelligent life out there, but the universe is so vast that the chances of any intelligent race ever coming across another one is extremely unlikely, no matter what technology they have.

Well you have to bear in mind that there are countless solar systems and galaxies out there. Also scientists are viewing the past of the universe. It takes around 3 minutes for a photon from our sun to travel to earth and it takes around 5hours for a photon from the sun to hit Pluto

Now think how long will it take a photon to reach earth once it has bounced of something in another solar system?

I understand that completely, but probabilities cannot be used as proof.

Until we find some sort of life or ruins of such a civilization somewhere I just don't believe life exists out there.

I hear what you saying, and it would be difficult to just happen on another planet that contained intelligent life, but surely the objective would be to find other life, then it comes a situation of narrowing the search field to the planets that could support life.... and suddenly the universe becomes a whole lot smalller

Here's another one for you guys, how do we define "Life" if we find something and then define "intelligent life"

Good questions, because my belief is that there may be some form of life on other planets, but they will be in the form of bacteria, viruses or plasmids.

Now for the question about intelligence, a French philosopher said it best when we he said: "I think, therefore I am". It is probably the statement to classify any species as intelligent. If any organism is capable of making a decision, be it what to eat, when to sleep, where to go, it must be classified as "intelligent".
