The only thing that grated me about the anime was the "mom". She needs a smack in the head.

I like these:
Hellsing (dangnabbit I likes me some evil vamp that can kick ass and chew bubblegum and wear a silly hat)
Elfen Lied (so furkin sadddd... but also, I would like to have those arm thingies sometimes and just look at somebody and go SQUISH!)
DearS (funny cuteness)
Chobits (same thing really eh?)
Naruto (too bad the damned thing keeps going and going and going... argh I like my anime to end really, but so entertaining and funny)
Great Teacher Onizuka (hehe I adored this series... I laughed till stuff came out of my nose... such silly characters)
Chrono Crusade (funny stuff too)
Ghost in the shell movie (cliche but good ya?)
The studio Ghibli movies
I also have gigs of anime I still have to watch... and I really do want to watch more naruto, it just doesn't seem to stop!
Does the Dragonball Z abridged by Team Fourstar count?

Don't like it? Don't watch it.
There is a reason why Naruto go's on and on. It's shonen, so it's viewership base is massive in Japan alone, hence it's length. Strange you have not mentioned Detective Conan, Bleach or One piece which went on for a while and still do (one piece is on episode 607). I somewhat do enjoy my shonen shows simply because.
Other than that, some good shows mentioned.

Easier to use this post, I would assume.
Bleach better have a film, OVA or something come out. Seeing some of the best fight sequences I have seen in the manga.

You should know if you read any recent manga.
Lets just say the main character is super strong and is pissed of because he can't kill a mosquito.

Have a look at Vagabond, it's by Takehiko Inoue he is the same guy that brought us Slam Dunk, although this manga is more serious and darker it is well worth reading.

With Gantz and Deadman wonderland ending I need some new ones to fill the gap. Bleach being on a break doesn't help either.

There is a new manga called big order,it's writted by the same guy that did Mirai Nikki.
It starts of slow and doesn't look so good in the start but it radically start looking good as it picks up the pace and the base story mechanics are laid in place.
The main character has like a hybrid power between Light Yagami's Deathnote and Lelouch Vi Britannia's Geas.
It only has 12 chapters atm but it's looking good so far.
ANother Manga i've been reading is called Project Arms but it's charm starts to wear off at the later chapters.
