Musicians on MyGaming

Two of my favorite drumming clips:

Derek Roddy (old clip, just effing around, skip into it a bit):

Infant Annihilator drum playthrough:

I was unable to post more videos, as a second post now merges with the one above and then tells me I cannot post more than 2... meh...

Here's the guitarist on the same tune:

And another one on drums:

I have watched them so many times. Busy learning Cunt Crusher actually. I've got the speed, it's just putting it all together that's taking its time.

How does he move his foot so fast?

How does he move his foot so fast?

A lot of practice. He's using the floating foot technique. It's the same motion as putting your foot flat on the ground and tapping, except that your heel is in the air. Also, as you can see, he isn't hitting the head very hard. The electric kit doesn't need to be hit hard to detect the playing so he's able to play faster but softer in order to reach those speeds.

A lot of people have issues with this but personally I don't care if you're using triggers or not.

People's complaints are always that you have a machine (so to speak) making you sound better and clearer than you really are or may be, with all your levels in perfect synch. But it still takes skill and practice to do what that dude is doing.

I totally get the issue purists have behind that, but at the end of the day it's the sound that really matters - and I've used them in recordings as well. Didn't exactly have sleepless nights about it.

Triggers don't help with making you sound cleaner and better, it just amplifies and/or changes the sound of what you're playing.

At speeds over 260 BPM, you cannot possibly hit hard enough that all you need is a mic. The playing is so fast that a mic will pick it up and make it sound muddy, whereas the trigger offers the clarity and definition.

Not to mention keeping a beat at that tempo.

Got myself a 25 watt Eden bass amp on Thursday last week for R1500 :D
