War Thunder

So after seeing the tread and seeing how many are playing this, I'm also now downloading this. Will join you guys only tomorrow though.

so Saturday morning I thought I'd just check it out quickly before I start playing Blacklist again..... I didn't play any Blacklist this weekend

Started to play this game this weekend.

not bad. I'm only playing with German planes.
the German planes are horrible on the lower tiers, I wasted a lot of time there. switched to USA eventually and it started going much better

My download stopped for a few good hours over the weekend, so I'm only on 70% downloaded. I'll check it out tonight. But what I've read about it over the weekend makes me think that I may enjoy this quite a lot. So what tips would you give a rookie pilot getting into the game?

I have been tempted to do the same, i would go to USSR.
they almost have no ammo and the handling is not great at all.

Lower tiers planes: UK is the better, then USSR, then USA and Japan and lastly Germany, Although German planes from lev 7 onwards is quite good., UK have firepower and turn better than the US planes. Although when you get to the Kittyhawk, Wildcat and the Aerocobra <--- this plane is a beast with a 37mm Canon 1 shot downs small planes and 2 shots on bombers etc.

Start with the UK planes dude, Fly high, no noobs tend to look up and swoop down into them, You have more speed then so will be able to get away. I find to barrel roll when someone is behind you and until help arrives work best. No use trying to outmaneuver certain planes, some you can tho.

Japan is the kakkest by far... played till level 6 with them... you get pretty much 1 hit everytime and you're dead.

What control scheme does everyone use? I have tried playing with my xbox controller first, but that felt horrible, so I switched to the mouse aiming which seems to be a lot easier, but I'm not sure if it's the best.

Mouse aim, set your sensitivity to the 3 bar for kb and mouse and bind your pitch to w and s and your bombs and rockets to your side mouse buttons

I'm using a Joystick, took a little while to get it configured, still not perfect. Tried the game out for the 1st time this weekend, played a little of each country, but mostly England. I'm not very good, find it pretty hard to keep my aim steady over the aim marker.

Ye dude head on never a good idea I bail when I see it
I'm able to dodge them sometimes, but it's the fuckers that manage to ram my bomber that pisses me off the most!

I always prefer kb/mouse for these sort of games, you have a lot more control with a mouse

Dude better to lead the marker you get more hits that way
