Takedown: Red Sabre

FUNFUNFUN! Online with some peeps on mics will be super!

Anyone want to split a 4-pack? (I can't buy the 4-pack but can transfer steam funds for 1)

I remember watching the alpha footage of this in Jan, and reading that the designers did some of the old rainbow six games! Shortly afterwards I completely forgot about it, I was reminded last night when I saw it on steam. I am so amped for a propper tactical shooter. Lockdown was probably the last real "tactical" one they did before they killed it with Vegas :(

Last night while waiting for GTA5 to install, I saw TotalBiscuits WTF and I must say, it does look promising and TB raises some great points. Nice to see a true genre like this developing again, because there literally is nothing else like this around.

Cant agree more, i was always a fan of rainbow six, loved to make my own waypoints through a level and have a good level of tactics. was really a breath of fresh air compared to run and gun shooters...really miss it, Vegas1 and 2 dont come CLOSE to the other R6 classics. yay for Takedown!

Oh. I guess that I don't really play with randoms... and if I do and they start speaking on the ingame VOIP I mute them because most of their voices irritate me - or they generally don't have anything useful to say :P

Agreed. There was nothing worse than joining a counterstrike server and hearing whiny voices bitch and moan and just spout uselses crap before the welcome screen had even popped up. for a tactical fps, im sure they figure that you're going to be playing with people you know (third party software) or you dont WANT to have mic options.

I'm happy that they leave it out and focus on making this a killer game worthy of returning the tactical fps to its much deserved glory

I don't know other people to start my own chat outside, so I would like to communicate with randoms that I join with.

I can understand not wanting VOIP in something like Counter-Strike or CoD, but I think it's critical in a game like this. With the amount of tactical gameplay you're going to be using, being able to coordinate tactics with your teammates is going to be a bit of a problem if you have to stop every few seconds to type.

I actually disagree. I think Lockdown was the worst in the series by far. Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield was my favorite. Lockdown is where they started to go downhill, but Vegas was still a better game regardless IMO.

And +1 for ingame voip. This game will most likely not have a lot of idiots and trolls and it's useful to voip with randoms. It's not like there are 20 people in a coop session. I think it's 4.

Raven Shield was great, but holy balls the AI was bad! I dug it out yesterday and tried playing again and my squad got themselves killed before I was even halfway through the mission. Every time I ask them to frag and clear a room, they stack up against the door in such a way that the tangos can shoot them when the door opens. The worst is in narrow corridors where they simply go stand right in front of the door before opening it.

Hehe, that is true. I remember getting so frustrated with them to the point I just solo'd some of the missions.

SWAT 3 on the other hand had pretty good AI for it's time. In a some ways it was better than SWAT 4 looking back now.
