Smartcall Technology Solutions (Thieving fucking bastards)

The Joker

Thread Killer MKII
These guys claim I am subscribed to a service they offer on my one cell phone number.
This subscription costs R20 per day, they also claim I registered for this service on the 23rd of may..I was in hospital on the 23rd of May and this sim card was locked away in a safe, as I mainly use it for emergencies and when mo other phone gives issues. So I did not use the sim card, I did not register for any fucking service and fucking useless MTN don't bother informing me that someone is stealing my money.

They have taken on avg R250 per month since May. I only noticed something was a miss when I turned the phone back on when I got out of hospital in September. I just got off the phone with them, the lady I spoke to was incredibly rude and evasive and she put the phone down on me, Phoned back and spoke to someone that was actually willing to help me. While talking to her I was doing a bit of research on this company and what they do and then I stumbled upon a huge amounts of complaints with this company and MTN.

MTN says they have nothing to do with yet all the complaints I have come across lists MTN and this company.

Needless to say my lawyer will be in contact with both MTN and this company.

I see more and more of these companies popping up and then offering these services and then people get billed and nothing gets done about it, you lose the money and that's it. Our local networks Vodacom, Mtn, CellC, 8Ta and Virgin have done nothing about this, they don't protect their clientele, instead telling the users you can contact them and unsubscribe, offering no help or assistance.

It wouldn't surprise me if the local networks get paid by companies like these fucks to turn a blind eye.
Something could have been done about this ages ago.

I am livid and I will be visiting the offices of Smartcall Technology Solutions in the next few weeks.

Fucking thieving bastards :mad::mad::mad::mad:

As a result of this I will be cancelling both my MTN contracts and I will be advising any and all of my clients/family/friends about this experience.

Sounds like a real scumbag company. Please let us know what happens, I hope they don't keep on getting away with this.

Wow it looks like it has been happening to a lot of people: http://hellopeter.com/smartcall-technology-solutions

Any person working for a company like that must either be a scumbag or feel like a scumbag.

I have found a ton of complaints about this company bud and not just on hellopeter.
But like I said none of the local networks do anything about it, which is why a lot of people inc myself are thinking these guys pay the networks to operate like this.

When I got told that MTN could not do anything about it I wanted to bite that guys fucking head off and feed it to his wife, but I realized he only works for the cum of the earth.

Well after speaking to my mom about it she is also canceling her 3 MTN contracts.

Scamming bastards! There are loads of these sort of guys around, and the problem is that very few people actually check their phone bills.

What service are they allegedly providing?

Apparently I subscribed to download games and wallpapers...I am using a fucking S4, I have piss fast internet, I don't need content subscription shit like this lol.

Also there is no confirmation sms from them for this so called subscription.

All they do is steal your money, simple as that.

Yoh dude, what KAK! That is fucken bullshit.

Subscribing to this thread for the outcome. These guys are obviously just chancers and 95% of the time they're getting away with it.

A friend of mine had a similar experience. They claimed he signed up at whatever time on such and such a day. Happened to be in the middle of the 94.7 cycle race which he sent them his time and confirmation of his participation, they then posted him the money they had taken from his account to him in the post - quite dodgy

Do not go the legal way here...you will lose money. From personal experience and that of others I know, there is f**kall you can do vs WASPS. There is no way to prove that you didn't subscribe to their service. Best option here is to buyout your contract from MTN and move over to Vodacom, who actually have a sms confirmation system in place which will not allow WASPS to bill you unless you authorize them to.

Go prepaid. No need to get tied up in these bs contracts.

Go to MTN.
Tell them who and what is taking your airtime.
Have it cancelled. If they don't then they talking shit, all Cellular providers have access to the information that can cancel a WASP service.

Will try having a look on http://www.waspa.org.za/ to see if I can find a cancel option.

Looks like they have removed some options on the website.

My advice constant WASPA http://www.waspa.org.za/contact.shtml they are legally bound to enquire to Smartcall and if they are in the wrong they get fined (up to R100 000) and you can get your airtime back.

http://www.waspa.org.za/code/complaint.shtml

There is also a online form to fill in with complaints. Hope it helps.

Sage advice. Real pity that all networks aren't doing this... unless they are also taking their cut of the "profits"

Because we are all adults. And since its not excessive its still in the rules.

9. No posting links to anything pornographic or in any other way inappropriate. This is a family site after all.

Probably no point in arguing this, I was just asking why it wasn't censored.

OT not much you can do, but asking MTN to cancel it, my one question though is why have an S4 locked away for 4 months? Did you never receive any billing information previously or were you not able to check it while you were in hospital?

The sim was in my spare phone, the S3 was with me, only recently got an S4.
Also if you recall I was in Hospital for 75 days this year. When you go through something like this then you'll understand.
Pretty much everything around me was faded out.

An anyway why do I need to explain anything? What did I do wrong exactly?
MTN are fucking useless for allowing shit like this to happen in the 1st place.

Also my use of colorful language is because I am completely and utterly fed up with this kak country.
Which is also why I am leaving it for good.

Well I get weekly texts saying I have subscribed to some or other thing or I can opt out by replying "NO" or "STOP" which I then do immediately and I never click on any links these dodgey companies send me. So I hope I never have to 'understand' as I take care not to get caught out, sorry wasn't aware of your hospital stay, just found your OP strange that you say you locked away your phone and sim.

Good luck in another country.
