Are there ANY bike lovers or haters here at MyG?

No stop this temptation.... :(

I am already battling to decide between Honda CBR600 2009 model with 2300km for R86 900 and a CBR1000 also 2009 model with 4000km and ABS for R99 9000

Don't know which 1, I want that 1000 but the money will be too tight apart from petrol like only R1000 spending a month until i get another job which will hopefully be soon

Well firstly, its not "with ABS" it is the ABS model. A very nice bike indeed and a good price ur getting it at. If u take a look at my previous messages in this thread u will see that I state very clearly that u WILL get bored of a 600, I promise u. Its just so annoying to have to wait till 10000rpm before the bike wakes u up, don't get me wrong, on a track a 600 is the way to go, but in real life its not. And don't mistake pass riding for track riding, u will still rape someone on the pass with a 1000 if they had a 600. Second to consider is ur weight, u can never be too light to ride a 1000, however u can be too heavy for a 600, around 90kg+ u are offsetting the center of gravity of the bike and its outright dangerous. Next important thing is, since 2006 the Fireblades have stayed relatively the same, some small changes but the power output has remained the same, only with the 2013 model did they change the suspension a bit to improve it even more. But u dont need to go buy a 2009 model if it is exactly the same as a 06/07. Just have to consider the km. Most people use super bikes as a toy so u should be able to pick on up for R60k - R70k. eg, mine was R62K. Fine I did some mods to it but in all honesty its not necessary at all, its a beast already, there is no AMG or shit that will keep up with u so u dont need to go all out. Depending on where in the country u live u could get them relatively cheap and then u dont need to put urself out of pocket with another R40k!!! Just because u want one that looks newer. If u like the new shape so much then buy an 06, pay R8k for a faring and just swop the 2. That would be my advise to u. But as far as a 600 goes... On the track, yay, on the road nay. The 1000's are just better built machines!

Dont get it wrong, those 2 bikes especial the MV with that unique motor sound is of the best bikes spec wise ever built, I would give my left nut to have them too in my garage as well!! And ur right, they have to be big and they have to be faaaast!!! lol

I work in Contermanskloof. I have lots of balls with my 4 wheels under me and traction control and many airbags :p

Not a bike fan, but my dad was and had a Honda cbr750 and use to travel on the back of it when we went to Durban or on bike runs, I have never road a bike myself besides the automatic off road one.

Let me be the 1st one here to be against bikes.....

Mainly just the damn noise they make early in the morning.

I live in PTA and live next to a busy road in a apartment block, and every morning very early a couple of bikers will wake up the whole street as they fly by in the 60 zone. The Best of all is when this happens a couple of times on a Saturday or Sunday morning from about 4am. It makes me want to get a paintball gun and shoot the Mother@#$@#%@#. But i have lost a couple of my buddies in motorcycle accidents, that might be what is stopping me from doing it.

Damn ichigo, i took to long to proof my message and you beat me to it :)

I had an old 125cc myself while growing up but stopped riding a bike after losing a couple of buddies.

I bought my bike without knowing how to ride, got a friend to show me the basics, started riding, and it's so much fun, although i mainly use it to get to work and back home, once i feel more comfortable rising long distances, i think i'll try visiting some friends in johburg, just for fun.

Dam I really wana get me a cross country! Biking as it is is a hole other world u see, but to be able to do cross country must just be epic. Do u ever do that or only road riding? Why'd u let go of the Suza? It's really great bikes to ride...

Well tbh speed kills no matter what ur riding, I personally think that the cost involved with speed vs a bike is a lot more in favor of the bike. Have u ever ridden before? Has she? In SA u can get killed in ur own house minding ur own business getting vat in front of the tv on ur lounger, bikes don't kill ppl. If u have some sense of responsibility u will be fine. I love speed too, but there is a time and a place for everything!

I dont know if I would have gotten rid of a nice bike like that...

You weren't kidding when you said it looks the same as my old bike!!

Yeah, a little cosmetic damage to the front light but other than that a great dam bike! Real brutal considering it has no factory dampers lol. I have had some tank slappers with that bike man oh man... The moments we can never be grateful enough for hahaha.

One can only appreciate raw power when its under ur legs caressing ur balls! It's easy to push a car to its limit, its rather a different thing when a bike pushes u to urs! :D Where at Contemans do u work? The quarry? I go hunting there a lot when we do falconry. There is not a pebble on that road that I don't personally know :)

Why u not a fan? Didn't u like the runs? I personally don't like them either, I actually almost never go. I have a group of about personally good friends that plan trips to Knysna and things with and then another 10 guys that usually join up with us Sunday mornings to wake the people up for church :D. Off road bikes are a different breed, very unforgiving, scariest I have ever ridden was a 2 stroke 500, nearly shat my pants. And when that power band came in I decided to hand it back to the owner in fear of dying prematurely on my arch enemy the Yamaha!

Yeah it can be a bitch if ur not a biker urself. But I am sure there is more than just bikes that keep u up if u stay on the side of a busy road? I do agree, I don't like bikers that go over 60 in residential areas, it's extremely dangerous for other people... Unfortunatly I can't say I have too much remorse for the Sunday Saturday thing, that early in the morning u will hear a 13 chico golf make a racket with no ambient noises. Dude, shoot them with the paintball gun, nothing will happen lol, just make sure they don't see u unless u know how to kick ass and don't mind being smashed in the face with a helmet, bikers have a tendency to do that, especially common ones which I would like to think are the ones that come racing home in a residential area @ 4am in the morning, I'd be pist too!!

Sorry to hear that u have lost a couple of friends, I have too, not nice... But I have lost a couple of friends in cars too so it just hurts either way. If ur heart isn't with biking its always better not to own a bike anyway so its good that u sold the 125. Maybe one day it bites u again and u start riding, then u come down here to CT and we go for some nice pass riding. Everyone is always welcome!

a Man after my own heart! Thats the way to do it man!

My father in law came to my house in the middle of the winter 4 years ago and said to me, "Mike I really need to use ur car..." He was an estate agent at the time, going to show a R3.5m house, could not really pitch wet on a bike and then make the nice clean house dirty as he goes along. So back then I owned my dear Focus ST, so I said to him (back then only my girlfriends father) "Uncle Herman, I have clients to see today, I need to get to work..." He says, "Take the blade" I say, "I have never ridden a bike in my life before" he says, "Ur a clever boy, I know u will figure it out." lol, that was my introduction to super bikes lol. Since then I have never looked back a day in my life! What are u riding now? Post a pic

I rode a bike for about ten years and had my fair share of near misses. But my time biking is done. I did enjoy it while I biked. Now, I am respectful of the machine, but I cannot believe some of the clowns I see racing and weaving between static traffic.

I think that feeling of horror was heighten by losing two friends (brothers) to freak accidents within sixteen months of each other.

Well much respect for u at least giving biking 10 years of ur life. I get slightly annoyed when people say they will never even attempt it, I don't believe going through life and passing up any opportunity to broaden ur spectrum of life is a wise decision. And I am more so glad to hear that in the 10 years u have not succumbed to one of ur near missis. The bikers of today weaving in and out of static traffic all have one common future in front of them, a sudden stop with a hard drop, I just pray they don't hurt anyone in their misguided attempt of having fun. Time and a place man, time and a place.

Again, sorry to hear of your friends as well, even if I don't know them I get sadness in my heart knowing that another biker has fallen, its a comradery we have developed, greeting one another as we drive past not knowing one another from a bar of soap, but just the gesture signifying the possibility of the last person u will ever greet again has greeted u back... a life of a biker is a great and sad one. I am truly sorry for all that have lost loved ones while grasping a motor with their thighs, I like to believe they passed doing something they loved! I will live and die a biker, just hopefully not with my bike in pieces but peacefully on my old age bed with the photo's of my young super bike life!

What is the most serous accident y'all have been in?

I don't think I should get a bike above 250cc for a few years, let me be the first to admit I drive like an asshole, a fucking lucky asshole at that.

There 2 is a sayings we all that ride bikes should live by;

1: Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly. (its my signature)
2: There are only 2 types of bikers, those that have fallen, and those that still have to.

Keep that in mind when driving like a chop. Or, get a 1000, u will fall once and learn to respect it or it would be too late anyway. I would not be able to respect a 250cc if I had one, I think I would always try to ride it balls to the walls! U just can't be scared of it.

I by the grace of God have not had a serious accident to date, but I fear my day will come I am extremely hard on the passes, this is my second faring that has morphed and melted around the exhaust and manifold. And I don't have a fear of speed, as I stated in an earlier message the top speed I have gone with my bike is 323kmh, I would have loved to go faster but I am just too big and for aerodynamic purposes it just wont work out lol.

Here I thought I would be tarred an feathered for wanting to shoot them with a paintball gun :)
Thanks for the invite but my wife is not a bike fan at all and it has been years since i last rode a 2 wheeler.
