Are there ANY bike lovers or haters here at MyG?

Avid biker and huge moto GP and SBK fan, yeah i'm a rossi fanboy

Don't have the best of bikes but my hyosung 650Gtr does it's 220 which isn't too bad for a 650

But those Blades are beautiful, i like the GSXR 1000 though that's by next buy

As a child me an my parents drove past an accident where a biker got decapitated and his head was still stuck in his helmet. Thanks to this little incident, I had nightmares for weeks afterwards and now I am too traumatized to even think of riding one.

My girlfriend wants me to get a bike so that we can go on Sunday drives, but to hell with that.

Love my GS1200,the Ktm 990's are great and the Yamaha 1100 Tenere is also something to look at if you are interested in getting something like this. The bmw is so damn comfy and I feel much safer on it than I ever did on the Suzuki. The nice thing is that you are not restricted to tar roads only,we do a lot of trips that is a combination of dirt and tar and that was one of my main reasons for letting the Suzuki go.Also not a lawyer or a doctor;)

Road trip a few months ago.

I rest rode a CBR600 over the weekend pure joy almost signed right there and then.

So because I might be travelling to midrand about a 100km in total on a daily basis and the service interval on a CBR600 is 6000km it just viable to get it

I'm looking at a new Honda NC700X. Any options on it? (My hart says 2nd hand low mileage CBR600 but head says NC700X brand new for the same price)

What is a decent BMW going for nowadays? I don't have R100k to push into a bike. :( The GS800s or F650s were around the R40-50k mark.

I don't even had a road license yet <_<

This is the bike i would like to get one day something like this for long distance or just to go around on a Sunday.

But this is my dream to get one of these :D

^^ trolling but yea still love this bike so epic

Looking at between 75-85K for a decent second hand R1200gs,most guys who buy the 800's tend to upgrade to the 1200 after a while.Downside of the beemers are that the servicing and parts are rather expensive.

Just test rode a NC700X. Very nice bike, seating is comfy and handling is very good but kept hitting that damn 6500 ref limit :wtf:

I am an avid biker myself, sometimes I think my blood has a small amount of 2-stroke fluid in it. But due to surgery I am banned from riding until mid 2015. Planning on giving myself a motorcycle for my birthday in 2015.

Can't seem to get the same amount of love for driving cars as I have for riding motorcycles.

Still deciding on a motorcycle to get in 2015. Spending hours a week researching and looking at new releases or upcoming releases. I also have to factor in need vs want. Harder than I thought.

The NC700X is a nice bike, underpowered a bit but very economical. Looks good as well and I have read a few reviews of guys hitting dirt roads with F800GS riders and having more fun than the other riders. You always have to think about what you want vs what you need in the long run. What will you be using the bike for and what condition you are in as a rider. Superbikes and the likes are not for novices or riders who have more ego than brains. I see many guys making the mistake of going from never riding to buying a 1000cc superbike and getting their arse smeared across the road due to inexperience.

What exactly do you need a motorcycle for?

As someone who has kissed the tarmac and dirt more than a few times I can tell you that if you don't respect the machine and only think of it as a way to pick up girls, you will get hurt.

When I was considering getting a superbike a friend of mine that used to write a CBR600 and CBR1000 told me to go for 1000 but after testing riding a 600 I knew a 600 was more then enough for me.

I want a superbike but need a commuting bike as I will be using it on a daily basis travelling to work. With a service interval of 6000km (except the new CBR600 and 1000 which is now 12000km) I know that it is just not viable for me to get a superbike to travel with on a daily basis. Currently travelling from Roodepoort to Bryanston but might soon be Midrand so I would do about a 100km's a day at least.

I believe the words "If you think you can ride it, sell it" When riding a bike you need to be very cautious on how you riding and what you doing.

There a reason why you are stuck on Honda though? Don't want to bad mouth them or anything but they are not the best these days.

Your heart set on a 600 or something to that degree? How tall are you? Will your bike just be for commuting or do you want to do some touring as well?

Superbike touring is not fun, your backside is raw after the first few 100kms and the wind will make you cry after a while. Not to mention the riding position sucks for long distance touring if you are any bigger than a horse jockey.

A question that has been bugging me for a while, Why is it that that the Honda CBR125R has more power then the Normal CBR125 when the only thing the CBR125R has different (Aside from the cosmetics) is liquid cooling? Have tuned the engine higher because of the cooling?

Did a run this weekend with a friend of mine from centurion all around Harties and we came around a bend and we found a fallen biker comrade, CBR 1000 Repsol is a write off and looks like the dude broke his collar bone.

GL to the guy and hope he heels well and gets riding soon.

On the other hand i HATE guys that change lanes and don't use either their mirrors or indicators or both for that matter had a lady almost knock me off the road this morning after she just changed lanes not using anything and pushed me into another car

thank goodness i had my senses with me and wasn't going fast either, some people just can't think bike.

I hate it when I'm driving in traffic and I want to change lanes when there is a gap. However when ever I start moving across (with my indicator on) some biker storms down between 2 lanes of traffic and then giving me a heart attack because he came out of nowhere ignoring my indicators. What makes it worse is traffic can be moving at 50-60 kph and still they have to squeeze between traffic.

I hate it went bikers don't think car.

(This rant has been brought to you by my morning commute today after said biker also clipped my mirror and I didn't get time to get his plate so I can report a hit a and run accident)

Factory tweaks. Some manufacturers factory tune and/or dyno-tune their products. Some motorcycles are released as an R version as a limited or special edition or they just offer a few more extras that are added( you still pay for them). It can be anything from a better exhaust to a gear indicator or even different forks or break blocks.

Sometime though it is just a little marketing trick and the only real difference you pay for is the colour scheme and the R badge. Probably because there is some club that we do not know about.

And the CBR125 and CBR125R will only differ in maybe a handful of bhp and color scheme. On a 125cc the difference will be nearly unnoticeable.

It goes both ways. Bikers take chances when moving between traffic. I do not believe in doing that. Takes just one person to open a door or cross lanes in traffic and you are stain on the road. You get different types of riders. Those that think and those that do not.
The latter ones are the ones that give the good bikers a bad name.

Agree with you spartan i only move between traffic when the cars are either standing still or moving at like 20 or 30 and if i don't see a big enough space i will not force my way through i love my bike too much too mess it up. And there are decent bikers and there are hooligans. And i thank every single person that makes way for me to get past them if they are moving slower.

But Ike on the other hand you get cr drivers that are complete assholes when it comes to bikers i had a guy the other day doing 200 on my ass with a bmw if i went left he went in behind me if i went right he did the same carried on for about 20km when i jsut flipped him the bird and dropped a gear and pulled out from under him.

But it's people like that that kill bikers

Point made. Now I need to install a dashboard cam so in future I can take those plates to the police station for fleeing the scene of an accident after they clip my mirror next time.

@alientaker
I get that some drivers are assholes but there are just as many bad bikers out there.
