New NCSoft MMO - Wildstar

I really like the art style of this a lot, but I don't think I would actually play it.

Same but it almost looks dated now. But hopefully its f2p with micro transactions then at least I can try it and see in game how it is.

After a week of slaving, I was finally able to complete our submission for WildStar's "Pay It Forward" competition. If you're a member of WildStar Central, feel free to "Like" our contribution post on the WildStar Central forums and show your support (but only if you do actually Like it, of course!) here: http://wildstar-central.com/index.p...pays-it-forward-here.4649/page-18#post-111051

Here are the images sans the post (for interest's sake, each character is comped out of minimum 5 separate images):

NO! Making it f2p will just make it a game where everything you do will be hampered in some way in order to get you to spend money. I'd rather they went the GW2 route of Buy to Play with a cash shop of optional goodies.

Also graphically I think it looks great for the style they are using.

As for beta's, I'm staying away. I do not want to spoil the wonder of exploring the early game.

As I've said before, I'm truly fatigued from being inundated with so-called "F2P" MMOs that turn out to be a) P2W b) Annoying but necessary micro-transactions c) Void of challenging, end-game content. I'd rather Carbine postpone their initial release date, bide their time, listen to BETA feedback and create a polished release containing content that will ensure the game's longevity. Most of us at WildStar Central have no problem with a sub model at all if it means an AAA release and value for money as opposed to hopping from one "F2P" MMO to the next, desperately seeking "the missing link"!

Well it's official, Wildstar is going to be sub based.

WildStar Online will not be Free-to-Play. It won’t be Buy-to-Play like Guild Wars 2, either. What does that leave, boys and girls? That’s right, you heard it here first: WildStar will operate via the classic subscription model, with a tasty EVE-like caveat Carbine is calling CREDD. Last week we caught up with Jeremy Gaffney to chat about the revenue model for WildStar and why Carbine is betting on the subscription model over the new hotness of F2P and microtransactions.

First, let’s laydown the basics for you. The box for WildStar will cost you the now standard price of $59.99, which gets you 30-days of free game time, and three week-long passes for friends to try the game too. After that, you’ll have to pay $14.99 a month, or cheaper ($13.99 for three months, $12.99 for six, $10.99 for a year) if you pay for multiple months at a time. But the big twist that WildStar is throwing into the mix is that you still can play for free... if you’re willing to work for it in-game. That’s where CREDD comes in.

Not sure how it is "free" since you just paid $60 for it considering the game you just bought is useless without it.

The whole CREDD/PLEX concept also seems completely backwards to me. The idea behind F2P was that it allows casual players who don't feel like spending $15 a month to play, can still play the game and pay for what they do feel like playing. Yet buying game time with in game gold has exactly the opposite effect, it's the hardcore players which are the only ones who will be playing enough to actually afford to buy game time with gold. So you land up in a situation where the casual players are actually subsidising the hardcore players, so the more spend you spend playing the game the less you have to pay to play it.

With the Eve Online PLEX system it only took 2-3 months of casual play before you could comfortably make enough in game cash to buy 30 days of game time by playing a couple hours every weekend (Incursions). Lets be honest 6-8 hours a week is VERY LOW for the standard MMO gamer.

Let's hope it's like that.

6 to 8 hours a week it's nowhere close to being casual. I probably only get around 3 hrs a week of gaming time and that is for multiple games.

I hope they go into detail about the healing classes.

Most people are prob going to go Esper or the unrevealed medic class. Because of this I am rather interested in how the spellsinger will go about healing. I hope ever healing class will be able to be a main heal depending how you built it.

Absolutely agree, I will play every healing class in this game, that is for sure. From what I hear there are no targetted heals, everything is ground based. You cast your heal on the ground and people have to get in it to get the heal.

And the first re-reveal is the warrior

Warrior Page

Was hoping it would be the spellslinger. Oh well.

Looks pretty interesting and the arm canon is a neat idea.

I was planning to try a tank in Wildstar but after viewing that warrior page and watch the youtube video i am not sure anymore.. i just don't like it, here goes that the other classes interest me more.

I think Wildstar is going to mess a lot with what people see as a class, sure the trinity exists, but I think they are going to make a few interesting design choices that will make a lot of people a little uncomfortable.

They also know that radically changing the way things have been done in MMOs is also very dangerous so it will be small but important changes for the better.

Bring it on evolution innovation!
