Can anyone recommend a good Pc gaming headset under R1500?

I have been looking for a good audio quality and comfortable gaming headset. Let me know what you peeps use.
 
I use 2.1 speakers :D :p

From what I experienced the roccat kave is good for surround. The steel series are light and comfy (the roccat tends to get heavy), but I had one broke on me within 10 months.

Those are not the latest and perhaps now there is something better :)
 
I have tried the headphones and clip mic combo before but im not very fond of it. I hate clip mics and it's a hassel whenever i go to a Lan. I would rather just have a crappy mic attached to a decent 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound headset.
Sadly my Razer Megalodon broke on me before i went with mic and headphones, I would buy another pair but i cant find them anymore.

I do use a mic a lot but the im not fussy about the quality. I have heard some good things about the Corsiar vengeance 1500.

The thing with the Corsair 1500 is the software has some issues.

A resident user here, Pooky, has them and is experiencing issues with mic volume regardless of his settings.

There's always the CM Storm Sirius or G35 you could look at?
 
Yeah I bought the Corsair Vengeance 1500. They have beta drivers for Windows 8.1 at the moment which they have had for a while and I don't know if it's that but the mic volume is too low even turned up full. I'm returning them.
 
The reason why I'd recommend a pair of headphones with a clip on mic such as the Zalman Zm-Mic 1 is because it allows you to be more versatile with them. You can go out and use the headphones on their own instead of needing a USB connection or whatever.

Plus, the sound quality from headphones in your price range will trump that of headsets.

Unfortunately that was the driver the last time I purchased a headset. I needed one ASAP, as my USB Logitech was becoming unusable. The mic's connection was breaking, so I got buckets of noise. And, with Pietermaritzburg being the bustling centre of activity it is, I was pretty much limited to ordering or getting whatever Incredible Connection had on hand. I took their Logitech H150. Perfectly usable for its price, but I'll admit that I haven't had to wear it for marathon gaming sessions yet.. Simply because I don't have the time for those anymore.
 
I have the coolermaster sonuz headset, pretty awesome and very comfortable! Best to use it with a proper soundcard, the onboards doesn't do it justice

Best Headset I've owned, brilliant 7.1 sound that does what it's supposed to. Very robust build quality, two different ear cups (Mesh and leather) and an external volume control dial.

I spent two months researching all brands and decided on this, go try them out at least first and you'll understand.

I got mine from RebelTech in November-December time. It was roughly R55. My only issue with the Zalman mic is that it is very sensitive and seems to raise the volume of anything it picks up to the same level. I'm not sure if I'm the noob here, but is there anything I am doing wrong? I also have the Zalman ZM-HPS200 headphones which I bought for LANs. I believe they use the same mic, but I am not sure.

I've gone through a few reviews and they keep mentioning the headset is a little on the heavy side.. Any truth to those "rumors"?
 
I'm really happy with my SteelSeries Siberia V2's. Got the non-USB version, so they're only stereo, but the sound is good and the mic is decent. Think the biggest factor for me was the retractable mic.

In terms of value-for-money, they're right up there.
