Competition disqualifications

I'm loathe to disqualify people but he was getting seriously out of control.

Yes, we want to attract new members but we also want then to contribute in a meaningful way, even if it's just having a nice chat with someone else. With Vapor, that just wasn't happening - it couldn't happen because he was posting bullshit at such a pace it's highly unlikely he had time to even read the preceding comments before making his next post.

There are plenty of borderline cases as well. I'm checking through a lot of posters and have a few suspicious ones I'm eye-balling.

I do feel, however, that giving it to someone that joined within a couple after the competition is posted, should not be allowed.

A lot of the new members joined within 7 days of the competition thread.

One of the purposes of the competitions is to attract new members though. If people come here for a competition and see that they have to be here for a month, they'll probably just think, "why bother?" and leave.

Dammit. I would have been so much higher up the ranks if my employer had not blocked mygaming :(

Its been a long and an interesting week here at MyGaming. While I do support the disqualification of Vapor, I want to say this: to all the new guys thats joined in the last week, there are many of you that have contributed much to the forum, so don't let this scare you guys away. I've seen a fair few newbies posting some quality opinions here, and hope they stay after the day is done.

MyGaming is truly a community. You can see it in the way the "older" members will defend the integrity of the forum with all they have. Which is why it can be very difficult to become a member. There are a couple of people here I've met, had a beer or 5 with, or would want to meet.

This was a neccesary move from James, as he is the final word on the integrity of this forum. But if you are new, and your motivation to join us have been the prospects of maybe winning a PS4, that's fine. Let this serve as an example of how not to become.
