Is there anyway to buy games on steam without a Credit Card?

If you sell some items on the market you could save up to buy something?

It may be way to slow though unless you have a super rare item to sell for a tonne of money...

Just a fair warning.

CS:GO chests are Huge gamble. At a maximum of an 0.8% chance of getting a rare item and even less on getting a legendary. Also do note that the market has become established and Factory new guns are going for about 20c depending on the model and style.

I was lucky to get a rare item and sold it, recieved $35 I had spend $20 on keys to get my $35 worth at that stage. So I bought keys thinking I could get lucky and got nothing over $1 in return.

Why do you say so? Iv only ever heard the reason why its so widely used is because of how secure it is... Iv had no issues with it and been using it for the past 3 years...

Some online stores have discontinued accepting PayPal as a payment method due to the high level of fraud that takes place, cheapcodes.co.za, which was mentioned earlier in this thread, being one of them. In fact quite a few SA retailers don't use it. But then again this is Steam we're talking about and they do accept PayPal, so that might be a moot point. No doubt it probably is less risky than paying straight with your credit card. All I know is there was a point where not a month went by where I didn't read about someone having their PayPal account hacked.

Also there was a thread, or it was in an existing thread, that someone asked if it was cheaper to use your CC directly or to go via paypal. I think CC direct turned out cheaper.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already.

If you want to buy something from steam, ask a friend with a CC to "gift" you a game on steam. Then you pay them back in cash?

It's a real bother though especially if you live in a different town from them now.

As for Virtual CC extra charges, haven't really found any yet. Still pondering about where those extra bank charges are hiding. With something like CheapCodes you are gonna be paying a quite a significant amount extra.

I've been using VCPay (EasyPay's virtual CC) - just EFT funds into it, and it generates a new credit card number everytime you want to use it. Only drawback is that it blocks you from using the Community Market for about a week until the payment method has been "verified".

Do you not still get those pre-loaded credit cards? For e.g. You'd pay R1000 for a card loaded with R1000 which you can then use to make online purchases.

It's a bit of a rush opening cases though! I burnt through my Steam funds pretty quickly, though. Got a lot of blues, and a couple of purples (2 of the SAME MAC-10's, to be exact). I watched a case opening stream the other day, and someone poor bastard didn't get a single cool drop out of 50+ cases. A different stream, and a guy got a knife on his first opening. Luck...

You could try signing up on Green Man Gaming or GamersGate. They both have a rewards program which lets you rack up store credit, or digital currency in the case of GamersGate, which you can use to buy games with. Just make sure that it's a Steam game you're buying first, and you'll receive a key to activate on Steam. Takes time, but you can make quite a bit through referrals.

Both websites also accept Rixty, a prepaid payment method that doesn't involve a credit card or bank account, although unfortunately GamersGate won't accept Rixty payments from SA. Not sure about GMG, seeing as they have disabled the Rixty payment option on their website. It has been that way for a long time.

Finally got my Internet Banking up and running with FNB and it too 5 minutes for the funds to show up on my wallet...

Compared to Standard Bank which took me 12 hours last time.

And FNB scores another happy client :p. I've been with them for years, and I can never understand how any of the other banks survive, unless its purely due to consumer ignorance (and I mean this with no offense to other bank clients :p, perhaps I am the ignorant one?). Just don't see what the other banks have to offer when compared to FNB.

Anyone else having issues adding funds to steam today? Keep getting an unexpected error message. I've contacted their support, and even reinstalled steam - no dice.

VCPay of late is having issues with Steam.

My experience with VCPay has been nothing but painful.
Now that, after fighting with them for over a week, the funds appear in my VCPay, they are just sitting there, because Steam throws "unexpected error" when I try to pay. And their support channel... still waiting... I get through to Telkom online faster than this.

Apparently this is something to do with some or other banking regulator in SA, my guess is just more govt. bs. VCpay called me on my phone after I had unsuccessfully tried to buy from Steam. They say that users registered before 27 Nov 2015 will be fine but any new users are still on hold for international payments. They also say that they are working with 'the regulator' to fix this but couldn't give me an ETA.
Their website also just says 'soon', per the FAQ: 'Soon you’ll be able to use VCpay to pay virtually everywhere across the globe!'
