Xbox One launching in South Africa in October?

I was all geared up to buy an XBone at launch as well. I even defended it as much as I can during the troubling times after E3 2013. But my vigour for the console has died down considerably. Hopefully the line-up of games coming out this year can reignite that spark I need to part with the R8000 odd it's gonna cost

Wow that's super late.

Won't the PS4 have dominated the market then?

When the Xbox 360 launched, it enjoyed a year's lead before the PS3 came out. That gave it some staying power in SA, which resulted in the Xbox 360 becoming quite popular in SA.

This time around, I'm afraid that will not happen. With the current state our economy is headed, and the cost of living increasing drastically, luxury items like consoles will be left out of a lot of spenders budgets. This has already caused the PS4 and games to hike-up their prices. The Xbox will launch here at a staggering price I'm afraid, and will not share the same selling power of it's competitor.

Sad indeed, because as a MS fanboy, I would love to see that not happen.

I do tend to agree with you, and i think the PS4 has just snuck in in time... That being said, the PS4 consoles are selling like hot cakes... you cant find one anywhere... So either its going to slow down now with all the increases we are experiencing, or its a market people are willing to spend on, as people will be spending more time at home?

Interesting theory. And with the skyrocketing petrol price, it can be argued that people would rather spend money on making their living rooms more fun than to go away for holidays. It's a possibility.

I think the Xbone is doomed in SA, honestly. It'll only be the hardcore Xbox fans who will keep on it, everyone else will go, or have gone Ps4.

Playstation just seems to have the better exclusive games in my opinion, that's what is making me lean towards it.

And a lot of the Xbox exclusives are actually only timed exclusives, and will eventually be launched on the PS4.

IF they aren't launched for X-Box and PC... I find most games that aren't on the PS will be on PC...

Think of it like this, at least when the Xbox One launches in SA it'll have quite a few games available for it where as the PS4 has nothing of interest at the moment.

Yes yes, but that controller  Nothing will beat the Xbox controller.

absolutely agree! the xbox 360 controller was perfectly weighted. and the asymmetrical thumbsticks were a ideally positioned.

I will admit the Ps3 controller sucked, but they've made the PS4 controller muuuuuch better. None of that round thumbstick shit.

hows the weight of the PS4 controller? i always found the ps3 to be too light

I actually got one to play some games on my computer with, the 360 controller is the best one in my opinion.

ditto!! i actually make Steam purchases based on whether the game supports a controller or not :-)

I'm with you on the PS3 controller as well. Far too light. Even with the PS4's, those analogue buttons man. Feels so unnatural. However, I think there must be a 3rd party controller for the PS4 based off of the Xbox's.

I bought myself a Giotech controller for my PS3 based off the XBOX layout, is alot better but still not the same as the xbox's.

Am sure there will be one out for the PS4

A good controller is one of the most important things for me when looking at consoles. It's also a reason I stopped playing my Wii, the controller is just too cumbersome to use for games where you need to move around. It does work well for motion games like Wii tennis, but there's only so many times you can lose to a dead-eyed Mii.

If the Xbox One's controller is as good as the 360's, I'd go for that over the PS4 in a heartbeat.

i have seen pics/vids where guys ripped manage to fit the innards of a PS3 into an xbox shell and get it working.
