Timeless gaming couples

Nate & Elena are at the top of my list, followed closely by Yuna & Tidus. Apart from those in the link I'm struggling to think of other iconic couples...

I see James had a productive evening :p

Why not these 2

There are very few games where the characters become couples or inlove. I cannot recall any games that I have recently played that did have something of the sort. Maybe the game devs' planning tries to keep these human emotions out of games?

Leisure suit larry is probably not something I can mention, intimacy is quite a popularity there and nothing of the "couple" sort either.

the image of Squall an Rinoa isn't as ingrained in our minds as that of Tidus and Yuna

I disagree with that statement. The Squall Rinoa couple was better than the Tidus Yuna couple.

The average SA gamer started their RPG gaming with FFX and that's why it is ingrained more. In my day playing FFVIII all the other kids was playing Tekken, Streetfighter and Coolboarders.

No one had a cooking clue what FF was and you could see the boredom of friends watching me play.

But each to his own. Depending on what games you played growing up and how you as a person experienced it...each gamer will have a different opinion on their best gaming couple.

Don't get me wrong, I personally prefer Squall/Rinoa; but my point is that people in general are more familiar with Tidus/Yuna.

What about Shepard and his entire cast of crew?

Don't think that would count; everyone had a different way of interacting to the entire crew so they won't mean as much to everyone in the same way (Kind of the point really); In all the other games mentioned here you as a player had no bearing in how the relationships panned out.
