Did u do it on your Pc? Could you maybe consider doing a little step by step guide on how you got it working?

I signed up for everything on the pc, but I'm using the Netflix apps on xbox and ps3 to watch.

Step by step.

1. Sign up with Unotelly for the DNS service which will trick Netflix into thinking that you're in America http://www.unotelly.com/unodns/
2. Change the DNS servers in the DHCP on your router to an IP address you get from Unotelly. I also restarted the router, which seemed to get everything working.
3. Sign up for an account with Netflix
4. Download the Netflix apps on the consoles or PC, and sign in.

A couple of annoyances, you need an American address to register for Netflix, and you'll need a fake US account for your XBox or PS3 so you can download the apps, you'll need an extra email address and the aforementioned fake address for this as well.

You can generate an address using something like this http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/

The XBox annoyed me because even though the app is free, they won't let you "buy" it if you don't have a credit card or other payment option on file, so I had to add my credit card to my extra account.

My Visa card worked fine as a payment option for Netflix, I just needed a valid zip code for the payment details, I put 90210 and that worked.

guys i know this might sound like a really noob question but what is netflix i have ehard so many people talk about it but never really bothered to investigate ?

I'm curious too. Do you have to pay per show/movie in addition to the monthly fee?

Id also appreciate a bit more info here... Do you sign up for like tv channels?

No, there's all different categories of movies and shows and you browse and pick what you want to watch. What's also nice is you can give people different profiles, so if your wife logs on, she picks her profile, and see's everything she's been watching, recommendations based on what she tends to watch, etc. And there is also a kiddies profile.

It's $7.99 per month, which works out to about R85. You also get a free month trial when you sign up

It costs about R81/month, streaming whatever shows they have on there. Its movies, series, kids shows, documentaries. The shows aren't up to date generally, and can be a season or two out. But the convenience, and awesome low cost of it makes it really nice.

It streams flawlessly, but usually starts off pretty bad quality and then automatically gets better and better. A 2mb line is pretty much minimum, and obviously it gets better from there.

Well if it's only R81 a month and you have access to all that content it's immediately a better deal than DSTV.

As I understand it, Hulu+ is what you want for the current stuff, so between the two, you basically have everything you can want, except sports.

Waaaay better than DSTV. I think last time I worked it out, paying for Unotelly, Netflix and Hulu+ all together works out like half the price of DSTV. Although this is assuming you already have decent broadband internet.

Yip, the only downfall is the data it will use... How much data does it use roughly per hour? any ideas?

So its almost like the "entertainment" thing on dstv, you just select what you want and watch it... Can you like search for say Spartacus and start at episode 1 and watch them all the way through?

This is an example of what the interface looks like, but it does vary slightly according to device. Its very user friendly, and especially great for catching up with old series. Also, no adverts.

They also have started creating their own original series shows and they're flippen well done, big budget titles. Such as "House of Cards", "Orange is the new Black", "Hemlock Grove" to name a few. They release them a season at a time as well.

The first month for netflix is free, same with Unotelly (for the DNS thing). And you can cancel anytime you like.

Im gonna try sign up tonight with that free month trial if this is what you guys say it is i might consider cancelling my DSTV

I think the Unotelly free trial was only a week, but it's long enough to try it out at least

Yeah, I haven't been able to set up Hulu+ properly for myself. I can't download the damn app onto my xbox without using a US VPN, the DNS thing only works once you actually have the app.

Data usage isn't too bad. I dont really monitor my internet too much, but using netflix exclusively for TV a few hrs a night (I dont have DSTV at all), gaming a couple of hours a night and downloading a few up-to-date shows, I utilise anything from 70gig to max 150gig a month. I know thats a huge variance but its the best I got :D

Yeah, you can just keep watching episode after episode as though you have the season on your pc.
