DLC? More like Deliver Less Crappiness

I think you're barking up the wrong tree with that article. Of all the games with terrible DLC models Borderlands 2 is not one of them. The season pass content for that game could easily make up any 'expansion' you have in mind. The skins are completely optional and don't affect gameplay in ANY fashion so you are free to ignore them if you wish.

The idea that a few artists working on skins for a game is somehow impeding the progress of a sequel or subsequent game is quite naive. Making a game is a complicated affair which involves dozens to hundreds of people and multiple stages, and not everyone needs to be completely involved in every stage, so yeah making a couple of skins isn't slowing anything down.

No sir I think your barking up the wrong tree.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they release more DLC for Borderlands 2 after the GOTY version of the game was launched?

Your point being?

GOTY does not necessarily mean complete with all DLC. It's the Game of the Year edition, not the "Complete with all DLC Edition". Yes, most other games that have a GOTY edition comes with all the DLC, but it doesn't mean every game has to do the same.

The GOTY edition for Borderlands 2 simply gives you the game and all the stuff from the Season Pass. The only thing I think they should have included (in both the Season Pass and GOTY edition) is the second Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack which raises the level cap to 72 and adds overlevel, but that's their choice to not include it just like it is your choice to buy or not buy it. The rest of the DLC is mostly cosmetic and doesn't affect the game in any way, except for the Psycho character pack, but again it is optional.

I know what you mean regarding GOTY not containing all the DLC but in most cases they do, or at least the games that I'm currently thinking of.

I was just trying to make a point (albeit I could've phrased it much better).

I get what your trying to say and I know most games include it. Read my edited post. :)

yes they did.shit like that pisses me off. I like the idea of a season pass, once off fee for all the dlc but how gearbox went with blands 2 I might not even do that anymore.also don't sell me a broken game then expect me to buy the season pass either, stepped in that hole with BF4

So you're complaining that they 'only' included the base game with 100+ hrs of content and the season pass DLC packs with 30+ hrs of content?

Like I said, there are PLENTY of games which have done DLC appallingly badly but Borderlands 2 just isn't one of them.

Strike Vector has Free DlC, and those DLC ain't worthless. For instance it just released CTF and an amazing level where you must dodge huge rotating, moving debree.

That game should be up there with Titan Fall atm. It's just that awesome, and it's done what most were scared to do, like no micro transactions.

Yet the people who complain about all these micro transactions and DLC, is the ones buying them...

Also, you don't HAVE to buy any DLC. What about just getting the stuff that appeals to you, like extra missions or characters? MK9 had really cool DLC characters and the you get stuff like Sleeping Dogs, which had lots of DLC. It comprised of many things, like costumes, XP, guns, vehicles and missions. If you only care about story expansion, just buy that.

Tell them with their wallets what you like and dislike.

I agree I only buy DLC that I really want like new tracks in a gt game, something that adds value.

I cannot recall the last time I bought DLC I felt was worth it. And as a result it is ages since I last bought any new DLC. I vote with me pocket.

I just buy DLC that continues/adds to the story of the game. For example the Burial at Sea DLC, not so fun to play, but the story is worth it.

Almost all DLC s just a bunch of crap, non of it really adds to the game, mostly cosmetic items and new maps/areas (Which should have been in the game in the 1st place) Expansions are another story though, like the Reaper of souls expansion for D3, that comes with a whole new act, 7 new chapters, new hero to play, new loot, extra story... I don't mind paying for that.

** Thinks back to quake, remembers maps released to community... FREE **
** Also remembers games being released... Complete and expansions being expansions **

I think TF2 has the DLC/iap setup all figured out perfectly, I haven't really heard anyone criticize their model.
