Dark Souls 2 Thread

No Hobbits Allowed
So with Dark Souls 2 coming out on Friday and reviews hitting the web tomorrow I figured now would be the time for the fans to start discussing the game.

What you looking forward to in DS2, what class you are planning to play and so on.

As for me I'm looking at going Swordsman, something different from my strength build in DS1. :)

Releases April 25th for me :(

There's many things I'm looking forward to. I ordered the collector's edition so I can't wait to see the little figurine. The new and improved graphics. The new bosses. That feeling of taking it slow through every single zone and checking every corner.

I'm waiting for the PS4 release :(

I don't want it on PC (Dark Souls was a flop apparently) and I don't really wanna buy a PS3 game.

The class that did look right up my alley though was the dual wielder, I've been waiting for a class like that FOREVER.

PC version was fixed with mods (looks gorgeous), but DS2 seems like it will be a lot better out of the box. As for me I can't even wait until 25 April, so I'll settle for a graphically inferior PS3 version.

I'll probably get the PC version too. :)

If the PC version is good and people say it's great then I will def grab it on PC. That does mean no launch day buy for me though...

I'm stressed out by the fact that your world can be invaded even while Undead :(

While undead you have less of a chance of being invaded. On top of that there is an item you can burn at a bonfire that reduces that even further.

People are prioritised for invasion as follows Human Form (Sinned) > Human Form > Undead (sinned) > Undead.

I'm watching some gameplay vids on YT and it looks incredible and the sound is amazing. There was this one HQ vid that was really good and the sounds sound next-gen. I might get this on PC now

Does it look any different from 1? The actual gameplay.

The graphics looks pretty much the same (From what I saw) with a few minor improvements, of course. What did impress me was the sound, the sound was amazing! I dunno how the guy got such high quality audio recorded but the sound was amazing, you could hear water droplets, wind, the creak in wood, it was like next-gen sound :p

@Isen, do you know if DS2 will support the Dualshock 4 on the PS3? I know some games don't. My left analogue is fucked and I don't really wanna buy a new controller (If PC is shite) but you need a working to survive the game

This is very interesting as I am still unsure what platform to purchase this for. PC / PS3 / Xbox360 ?

I am very concerned about the visuals, have what they have been showing off been from PC or have they been exaggerated?
I also worry as my PC is currently been sent for warranty and unsure of what the outcome will be, so I am aiming as playing this with one of my consoles, what you guys scheme?

I'm not sure if I've seen PC footage, but the majority of the footage has been from the PS3. I would go PS3 as the series started out on PS (So more dev time with it) plus PS is just more awesome :p. Dualshock 4 is supported so that means I might go PS3 myself, I haven't seen any reviews of the PC version. If you go PS3 though you will have a much better time with pairing up with locals, most locals game on PS.

Cool... Now I just need to stop eating in order to save up for it :D

Think you've sold me there on the PS3 version. Though I realize this isn't the right forums but seeing as you brought it up. You say the DS4 is compatible, is it that much better than the DS3 (I'm not a huge fan of the triggers L1&L2 (my fingers tend to slip off)). And I realize triggers are vital in this game.

If memory serves correct the DS4 triggers have a more concave design as apposed to convex like the DS3 controls?
hope I'm making sense with that =P

... on a side note;

From Polygon Review:
The sheer amount of content From Software has created is as impressive as it is terrifying — from massive castles where you can visit every room...

I remember this being a fruitless task as in Dark Souls you never came across anything "new".

I don't understand that sentence. Are you saying there wasn't much to discover in Dark Souls?

The only reasons why I wanted to know about DS4 support is due to the fact that the left analogue stick on my current DS3 controller is fucked. It never reverts back to it's neutral "stance" (?), it stays in the direction that I push it. So if a monster decides to surprise me I might end up dying more times due to a fucked controller than actually being pwn'd.

The DS4 is infinitely better than the DS3 though, it's bigger, better triggers (Concave), smaller dead zone for the analogue sticks etc... Much better in every way except battery life, it dies a lot faster than the DS3 ever did.

This is why I have two DS3 controllers. :p

I wouldn't mind using a DS4 it looks really comfortable.
