Dark Souls 2 Thread

how do you "co-op" with friends? I got the white soapstone, but that just allows me to join another random game. How does my buddy invite me into his game/vice versa ? i know there is a ring to strengthen covenent bonds but how does it all work ?

You both need to engrave the ring with the same god.

A character's total number of souls is factored in during summonings/invasions (generally you must be within 50,000 souls of the person you're invading/co-opping with and your level must be within +/- 10 levels).

How far bud? I'm in iron keep. Still have Shaded woods to do as well. And the damn belfry..

I'm guessing Iron Keep is pretty far in? I've barely started, my playing time is sitting at about 4 and a half hours now. I've taken down the Dragonrider and my mission for tonight is to get the Ring of Binding and then maybe explore around Heide's Tower a bit.

Mmm I still feel like at the surface of the game. I'm sl85 if that gives perspective. Iron keep is maybe about 3 or 4 levels after heide

Ahh ok, I'm only SL29 now. Making progress slowly, the game keeps kicking my ass around every corner.

Yeah I'm on par with you. Though I got the ring, just need to defeat Dragonrider. Was on my to do list for tonight, but just not feeling well and kinda high on meds.
Just watching a crap load of lore videos from EpicNameBro.

Made some good progress tonight at least. Managed to take down the Old Dragonslayer and the Pursuer (had some help with Pursuer) and levelled up to 41. Was exploring No Man's Wharf now and lost both my human form and about 10000 souls. So fucking pissed of right now, but that's part of what makes this game so awesome.

I fiddled around with summoning tonight. But if a hit and miss. I was able to summon others, as well as be summoned. And my buddy likewise. But for some of reason, we could not join each others game! And yet we are only 4 levels apart and within 50k Souls. What gives? :(

Maybe you should both buy the name engraved ring and join the same god, that should drastically improve your chances.

I managed to fell two more bosses last night, one of which I think was optional. I also got my hands on a sweet set of armour. :D

Yeah No Man's Wharf can be brutal the first time trough, but I love the look of the place. Keep your eyes open, there are a few secrets in the area. :)

Do you have any tips or strategies for No Man's Wharf? Especially those ugly things that cause bleeding. I've heard that they're weak to fire but every time I try to light a torch I almost end up dead as a result of tje exploaion caused by all the oil thrown on me.

I cannot wait to get this game, waiting for PC version. What is the latency like when invading / being invaded?

Always have a ranged weapon (I use a crossbow), this helps you deal with the archers, the dark lurker creatures and preempting ambushes. If you have a Pharos Lockstone you can use it to light the massive chandelier which will light up the entire area, this will force the dark lurkers into hiding. Don't get hit by the oil! :D

Also make sure to go into the houses with the dark lurkers, kill them with ranged attacks because some of the areas that they are in have good loot.

Latency is perfect, haven't had any issues with the exception of my line giving issues yesterday.

Thanks. Ranged weapons is a bit of an issue as I am trying to avoid using one at all costs. Want to focus on melee exclusively, but I'll see if I can get one.

I have a Pharos Lockstone. Will I lose it if I use it for the chandelier? Still have to find the chandelier first though. :p

Yeah I've gotten most of the loot from the houses but those pesky dark lurkers handed me my ass when I went to the top of the area towards what I believe is a boss area.

Please guys, a request on my part, if you going to have spoilers in your comments, please mark the comment with a header as such (maybe even in red). Not just for me, but anyone else.

Please don't take this the wrong way guys, I'm just trying to go in as blind as possible.

Sorry about that dude I forgot to add spoiler tags in my haste.

Does anyone know where I can get a Bastard Sword? Can't seem to buy one from the merchants and I really want one.

Fuck me, No Man's Wharf is kicking my ass. Lost about 30 000 souls in total tonight. Gonna try out a magic based character for a bit before taking it on again...
