I have to agree with this. I've been playing with friends and it's fine, but there are small things that need to be fixed. Namely quest objectives should be shared, you should phase to the same instance as your friends automatically etc.
Actually their phasing tech is weird as hell and it's best if you stay in sync quest wise with the people you play with. Since phasing is used so heavily.
Yea the standard leveling so far is pretty much solo centric, i have not seen ANY "group quests" (as in where it would say 2-man/3-man etc) yet . There are a few open world bosses and the dungeons which require a group but is also kind of a separate thing to do (it does not block your progress directly) like in most MMOs . There is also Cyrodill which is a huge open PvP zone with variety of content (quests included) which you can dip into at any time if you feel you need more "cooperative" game play.
Also the "adventure zones" which i think is lvl 50+ zones ? Is specifically group content, an entire zone which you can't solo. I assume they are forced to do it like this to ensure everyone in the group is "phased" the same.
Either way, i like their phasing stuff, they are really pushing some limits with it (resulting in a TON of bugs) . So in a way i prefer the "drawback" of a difficult grouping experience in favor of the world literally changing around you , based on your decisions. I already figured out how they are doing it, you will notice how you always end up "zoning" into a house/cave/temple to complete a quest and when you exit, voila you zone back into a "phased" version of the zone based on what you did .
Simple example, last night i did some quest chain in a haunted village overrun with skeletons, at the end i had a choice to eliminate the skeletons but leave the ghosts there to "suffer" or save the ghosts but leave the skeletons to attack everyone. Based on your choice the village will "phase" into become a peaceful or hostile area. I thought that is pretty cool, as this is an area in the open world that is now changed permanently based on what you did in the quest.
The catch is of course, now your group buddy who is choosing different will disappear from your instance, i'm not even sure how it works from there on (can two players who made different choices ever play together in an area like this?) .
The starter islands (if you choose to do them) , which you "save", also becomes totally different areas once you complete the main quest line. I was grouped with someone who was going to the islands for the first time (when i already finished them) and we could not get into the same instance.
