I hate CGI trailers with a passion.

But very keen to find out more about this game. Looking forward to trying out the beta (yay Wolfenstein pre-order) once it's live.

Doom...............man i can't wait for this one i still remember the very first night i played Doom 3 back when it was launched we were at the midnight launch at BT main store and i got home at like 01:00 installed it and started playing until Satan laughed at me...........then i went to bed.

I honestly hope that the new game is NOTHING like Doom 3. That game was a huge disappointment, and the point where I stopped caring about anything ID does.

I hope it really goes back to the old-school roots of Doom, meaning fast-paced FPS gameplay.

I also really hope it doesn't use the same engine as Rage and Wolfenstein, but I know that's probably going to happen anyway.

The only thing that gave me goosebumps was the sound of that door opening! Woo, that was all the Doom i can handle! :D

one of the few games that scared the crap out of me , Dead space 2 was another .
I really hope this is good

Nah they're cool. They're just useless for judging the game - so they're best viewed as independent things. e.g. The Elder scroll ones were awesome...despite the game (apparently) being meh.

Sure, that statement required context, I guess. I hate CGI trailers used as marketing tools for evoking hype :)

I have no problem with CGI trailers, I actually really like them. But they must be clear, this is a CGI trailer (as this one is clear its one), and clear this is a in-game graphics/ Gameplay trailer. I would hate Blizzard for example to stop making CGI trailers.

Yeah, I get that and I would hate it if Blizzard stopped making CGi trailers too :p

I just find it irritating when the first glimpse you get of a new game is something that largely has nothing to do with the actual game itself and more to do with advertising a glorified idea of it.

At least Blizzard tends to use its CGI as part of its games' stories.

I admire you guys for being able to play games like these. I won't play Doom for 2 reasons; First off, it focusses way too much on the whole occult theme (I avoid games like that) and secondly, I tried playing Doom 3 in the past and managed to get 25% through the game. At that point, I literally started getting nightmares. It's the first game that's scared me that much....so...err...No thanks.

I'll go cry myself to sleep in the corner whilst playing Viva Pinata rather, I'm too much of a wuss :D

Heh, what? Doom has always and will always be about opening portals to hell. It's not exactly scarier than other games just because of that. In fact, the Doom games aren't really that scary at all. Doom 3 was just a bunch of monster closets and jump scares interspersed throughout the levels. What little scariness there was wore off within the first few hours.

In fact, I think both Outlast and the original Amnesia were a lot scarier than Doom 3.

Yeah, I think the worst kind of "horror" games are really just of the psychological persuasion (building up the suspense, playing on the worst of your anxiety, etc). The actual act of "There's the bastard, time to run/shoot/kill/whatever" takes the edge off it.

Of course, you can also really only be frightened by the same mechanic so many times before it becomes routine, so I can completely relate.

I think games like doom, especially with the whole "you can't see anything except for what your flashlight is pointed at"-mechanic freaks me the heck out! I also hate games where stuff chases you down corridors or where you have to do something within a certain period of time.

Credit to Doom 3 though, I believe it created one heck of an atmosphere and I found it very easy to get involved in the world it created. That's probably why it got to me so much.

Nah, screw it, give my next-gen Viva Pinata. I'd rather garden for buzzlegums.
