Ubisoft and Watch Dogs: incompetence or malice?

If you are pissed off at Spar, stop buying from them. If you don't like Kalahari, go and shop at Takealot. But bitching at Kalahari every time you buy from them and they screw you is just really stupid. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Okay, so if I'm pissed off at Kalahari I just have to shut up and go to Takealot? Now Takealot pisses me off so I shut up and I go to the next site. In the end I'm pissed off at all the online stores and I got nowhere to go. How's anything going to improve if people don't draw attention to problems?

No, nobody said that you should shut up. You should complain, but if they ignore you, then move to the next company. If eventually you've gone through all the companies (which is unlikely as there will always be more companies or new companies) then go back and play old classics, or go back and play 6 months or a year old games which have been fixed in the mean time (doesn't apply to Kalahari and Takealot example obviously).

Complain about the things that you can change, the things that you had no control over. Don't complain about the things that you knew about beforehand but proceeded to buy anyway despite of those issues.

Fortunately for me I'm thick-skinned, but the MyGaming community should really try to work harder on being open to differing opinions. It would be mighty boring if everybody felt exactly the same about every single topic.

It's just really hard to fathom why you're trying to defend a company that clearly doesn't deserve or need it. The only people who should be doing that are their PR people, and they get paid for it.

I'm enjoying the game that I bought, that they made. Should I just sit back and watch everybody tear them a new one? I'm sorry but I can't do that.

You are just being obtuse and a Ubi fanboy. You don't seem to grasp that there are thousands of people with issues and Ubisoft hasn't said shit about it? They also claimed there would be a patch on the 30th of May...Its the 18th of June...No patch yet, Its like they just don't give a shit and why should they. They've already made their money from the game, already focusing on Far Cry 4 blurping out the same bullshit they did with Watch Dogs before launch.

So yeah I am glad you are in enjoying it, just don't bother replying to threads like these, you are literally the only person on this forum that isn't having issues with the game.

So instead you'll sit and argue with people who are having a shit experience to try and convince them that they're not really having a shit experience?

What exactly is the point of your argument, exactly? What precisely are you hoping to gain from arguing with people who are irritated with a product that they have spent money on?

Your goal can only either be:

  • To convince the people who are unhappy with their game that they're not really unhappy with their game.
  • To convince potential readers that it's a fantastic game to buy and not to listen to the people who are unhappy with the game.

How exactly do you hope to achieve either?

Or is there a third, yet indiscernible goal that you hope to accomplish, possibly something the equivalent of banging your head against a concrete wall?

I really enjoy a game called Beyond Good & Evil (made by Ubi, no less). It's one of my favourite games of all times, but I wouldn't recommend to anyone. You know why? It's a buggy mess that's really difficult to get working on PC, all thanks for Ubisoft's shitty DRM schemes. Will I defend the game when it's being criticized? Hell no.

My advice to you is not to worry what other's think of a game you enjoy.I learnt this lessen by being a fan of Gran Turismo which gets trolled like a bastard at Gtplanet. You can not change other people's opinions on something it will never happen it is just best to let it go.There is rumour's the patch is 5 gigs so it looks like I am playing the vanilla game forever.

Great example of a game I had to buy twice because of Ubisoft's godawful DRM back in the day (anyone remember TAGES?). Thank the gaming gods for GOG.

No, I'm not trying to convince you that you aren't having a bad time. But I am trying to convince somebody else who might be reading this (heaven help them) that the game isn't necessarily all bad. There are some people who are able to play the game with little or no issues. And there are people who actually enjoy the game *gasp*.

That's because you were personally affected by those bugs. Would you have also kept quiet if you hadn't personally experienced any of those bugs, or the ones that you experienced where negligible? Would you have remained deadly silent while everybody else pissed on the game?

Should I just stop talking because my opinion differs from the majority opinion on MyGaming? Is that the type of community that this is?

Not sure who you are talking to, but thanks for posting something different. A 5 gig patch isn't so bad, I downloaded a 7 gig one for Starcitizen a few days ago and that's probably 7 out of a 100 gig before the game will even start to resemble a game. Take it you are on 3G?

Yet you aren't arguing with them, you're arguing with us?

I'm sure that a potential buyer would make their own mind up and, certainly, given the issues surrounding this game, would wait for a special somewhere.

Instead, in the meantime, you're arguing to the death with people who are unhappy in the crazy hopes that your argument will win by attrition (read: hoping we give up before you do)?

I marvel at your endurance and dedication to this cause.

I don't expect you to give up, nor will I. But at least if somebody stumbles across this thread they will see two opinions, and not just one.

All I'm gonna say is that Watch dogs isn't bad. I've had like one or two issues but nothing that would have me sitting on roof tops crying for blood and ubisofts head on a pike.

I'm still recommending the game, it's fun and something different and the gameplay shows real promise. It's not the E3 graphical powerhouse from the hype train but I didn't by the game solely because it looked pretty. It's sitting at 70% of my expectations so that's a pass in my book.

No point in arguing.

I sent an email to James about Ubisoft working on a patch for the PC issues and that's been ignored thus far. MyGaming seams to be be stuck on only publishing sensationalist articles.

I'm enjoying the game and that's not going to change. I'm happy with the current graphics in game - stuttering aside. So once they fix the stuttering any further improvements (mod inter alia) would just be a cherry on top. But if you want to see that as a negative then I won't try to stop you.

I warned the haters to cancel their pre-orders before the launch when it was obvious that they wouldn't be able to enjoy the game, but they were too stubborn to listen and now won't stop finding faults.

Mate, you must have been paid off. At this point it's the only explanation that makes sense. How much was that cheque for?

How dare you enjoy the game? :D

Nobody said someone isn't allowed to enjoy the game. Conversely, the only thing I've seen come flowing from your fingertips so far is "how dare you complain about a broken game you paid $60 for."

Really though, if you were trying to win this by attrition, then you won. I give up. There's no reasoning with you. However, I think in your little pro-Watchdogs campaign you've really done the game a lot more harm than good and I would be very surprised if someone makes the decision to purchase the game based on your posts and article comments. Kudos in that regard.

At least most of the regular members here now know never to take you seriously ever again.

I'm looking forward to trying to get into the game once the patch drops (assuming it improves the performance). Right now the performance problems are dousing my immersion and testing my patience.
